Welcome back to Fresno County Board of Supervisors: 2021 version! Today's meeting will only consist of Oath of Office for re-elected Supervisors Steve Brandau, Sal Quintero and Nathan Magsig as well as designation of Officers. #fresno @uSparkValley Video fresnocounty.granicus.com/player/event/9…
Supervisors are moving to 10 AM start time rather than the previous 9 AM. Pre-Covid the parking was tough to find even at 9 AM . I imagine 10 AM will be even harder for the public to engage (if) and when we can meet in person again.
Meeting begins. Sal Quintero is on phone. Rest are present in person. Brandau has Rev. Jim Franklin give invocation. Administering of the Oath of Office to Supervisors Steve Brandau, Sal Quintero, and Nathan
Magsig
Brandau comes down first along with "these old people" (He gets a playful whack from an old lady I assume a relative). Rev. Franklin gives Oath to Brandau.
Quintero is having his administered by Sheriff Mims in an office somewhere. @LincolnSeward Nathan Magisg is having his administered by County Clerk Bernice Seidel.
Designation of Officers. @BuddySupervisor is "pleased" to announce Brandau will become Chair and Brian Pacheco becomes Vice Chair. Brandua gives a gift of a gavel to Mendes. Mendes is a Mel Brooks fan and Marc Benjamin got a book to give . "It is good to be the king"
Quintero thanks Brandau for being Chair during these tough times, Sheriff Mims, staff of District 3, County workers and elected leaders.
Magsig: Thanks the residents of District 5 for giving him a chance to serve a second term. It seems to have gotten harder every year. Torrential rain, homeless issues, deaths or retirements of County staff, bargaining negotiations, Covid, Creek Fire. Reading books shows him that
solutions will be be done by people as well as his Lord and Savior. Thanks the sacrifice of his family too. Pacheco: Congratulates his colleagues for their re-election. Mendes: it has been a trying year but we need to still get up every morning and take it as it comes. It can get
worse. There is a lot of time to do this. We have other jobs too. Some in the cities think we make too much money but this is a large county. We have good administration and department heads. We look over their shoulders but don't do job for them. Federal government has allowed
the states to do the work and not do it for them. One think the state of California has done well is getting the vaccines out. Brandau: As I start my first full term i recall my former colleagues at Fresno City Council told me I would be bored at County. I have not been bored
as there has been lots on the plate and sometimes too much. Thanks his Lord and Savior and helped him to "keep his mouth closed more" as well as Pastor Franklin , the people of District 2. We still have Creek Fire cleanup and Covid. Hopefully we can start to wind down that pretty
damaging chapter. Hopefully the vaccines will help. Brandau asks for any public comments. Non present. Brandau lets his parents leave so "they don't get a ticket".Supervisors leave for one Closed Session item.
Next meeting will be January 12, 2021 at 10 AM.
