Despite witnessing violence at Democracy's front door, the three Republican tribal citizens in Congress still voted against certifying the will of the people.

*Markwayne Mullin, Cherokee, Oklahoma 2nd
*Yvette Herrell, Cherokee, New Mexico 2nd
"This is not the American way," said Tom Cole, Chickasaw, Oklahoma's 4th, before voting against the will of Americans who chose Joe Biden for president.
"What is happening at the Capitol right now is unacceptable," said Markwayne Mullin, Cherokee, Oklahoma's 2nd, as he too subverted the will of Americans who sent Joe Biden to the White House.
"We will do our Constitutional duty and be the voice for our constituents," said Yvette Herrell, Cherokee, a new member of Congress from New Mexico's 2nd, right before ignoring the voices of Americans who chose Joe Biden as their president.
But the three Republican tribal citizens in Congress were not alone. In total, 147 Republicans voted against certifying the results of the November 2020 presidential election, including some who regularly present themselves as allies to Indian Country.

Two Republican members of Senate Committee on Indian Affairs were also going to vote against the will of the people.

Sen. James Lankford from Oklahoma and Sen. Steve Daines from Montana changed their minds after violence at the U.S. Capitol.

OUCH: The partial dissent in the Indian Child Welfare Act case is finally out and it's not the greatest for the #DefendICWA campaign. Judge Priscilla Owen thinks certain parts of ICWA are unconstitutional "because they direct state officers or agents to administer federal law."
In the 9-page partial dissent, Judge Priscilla Owen identifies these provisions of the Indian Child Welfare Act as illegal:
* 25 U.S.C. § 1912(d)-requiring a state seeking to effect foster care placement of an Indian child to satisfy the court that active efforts have been made.
* 25 U.S.C. § 1912(e)-prohibiting foster care placement unless a State presents evidence from “qualified expert witnesses .. that the continued custody of the child by the parent or Indian custodian is likely to result in serious emotional or physical damage to the child”

"A RACIAL SLUR": The US House of Representatives was scheduled to pass two pro-tribal bills on Wednesday. Then President Trump tweeted about it and both were pulled from consideration.
“We needed significant Republican support to get these bills approved today, and apparently the president tweeting a racial slur was compelling enough to give them cold feet," Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona) said this afternoon.
“It’s my intention to move both of these bills forward soon, and we’re currently evaluating our options for other avenues to passage."

The two bills are:
