On Tuesday, six days after neo-Nazis stormed the US Capitol, Jewish establishment leaders sent this letter to Biden expressing concern about rising antisemitism.

Their focus? "Antisemitism on college campuses" where "anti-Israel activity is simply a modern form of antisemitism."
The letter was sent on behalf of @Conf_of_Pres — an umbrella organization of 53 mostly far-right Jewish organizations, where racist @ZOA_National is still welcome.

It was signed by the leaders of @jfederations, @ADL, @AJCGlobal — all of whom claim to speak for American Jews.
Note: This is not even the first letter that @jfederations sent to @JoeBiden demanding that he adopt IHRA, focusing his administration's energy combatting antisemitism on a narrow definition that has been used over and over to silence critics of Israel. jewishcurrents.org/jewish-federat…
It bears repeating: This letter about the urgent need to stop antisemitism on...

<checks notes> college campuses...

...was sent 6 days after neo-Nazis and white nationalists attacked our democracy. apnews.com/article/electi…
Cynically, the letter cites Biden's own references to "the appalling display of antisemitism in Charlottesville" while not once mentioning white nationalists.

The white men who chanted "Jews will not replace us" in Charlottesville are neo-Nazis, not critics of Israel.
.@JoeBiden must see that many American Jews are vehemently opposed to the IHRA definition of antisemitism that this letter is urging him to adopt further.

Just this week, a coalition of Liberal Zionist orgs released this statement in opposition to IHRA: progressiveisraelnetwork.org/progressive-is…
Instead of listening to Jewish leaders who — in this very letter! — praised Trump's actions to fight antisemitism as "important and impactful," @JoeBiden should focus his efforts combatting antisemitism on building long-term structures that can fight and dismantle the far-right.
One way @JoeBiden can do this is using existing appointments, like the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.

He must appoint someone who will go after neo-Nazis and white nationalists, not students and Palestinians.

Urge him to do so now >> actionnetwork.org/petitions/tell…

Loeffler has regularly used antisemitic tropes and racist dog whistles, welcomed the support of antisemites and white supremacists, and posed for photos with affiliates of the KKK just this month. howtofightantisemitism.com/timeline/kelly…

With the Republican National Convention starting today, we are guaranteed a week of right-wing politicians defaming the #BlackLivesMatter uprisings, sometimes through Soros conspiracy theories.

Here's how racism and antisemitism intersect under white supremacy. [1/7]

In the past, we've seen the Right accuse progressive leaders and organizations like @lsarsour, @IlhanMN, & @Mvmnt4BlkLives of antisemitism to divide progressive movements.

Here's how the Right uses accusations of antisemitism to weaken the Left — not protect Jewish people. [1/9]

HAPPENING NOW: Young American Jews are waking up @ewarren to demand that she take action to defund occupation.

Follow along on the livestream here: facebook.com/watch/live/?v=…
.While on the campaign trail, @ewarren told us that "everything is on the table" when it comes to annexation. Well, we are here to hold you accountable to your word. We demand action, not just empty rhetoric.

Demand action from your elected officials: tinyurl.com/dont-fund-anne…
Empty statements are not enough. Empty statements are not enough to stop annexation, to stop Palestinian homes from being destroyed, to stop young Israelis being sent to enact a brutal occupation. We need real action. The U.S. needs to defund the occupation.

[Thread] @AIPAC says: “The U.S.-Israel partnership keeps us safe.”

So, let’s talk about what actually keeps us safe.
We already know that in both the U.S. and in Israel, not everyone’s safety and dignity is seen as worth defending. Too often, in both countries — as in other places — efforts to ensure the safety of one community directly leads to harm and domination of another community.
This has created a climate of violence. In the U.S., that has looked like Jews shot in synagogues, Black Christians murdered in churches, Black people killed by police, immigrants in cages and attacked by gunmen, resources withheld from communities of color.

Trump's plan is totally and utterly bankrupt and reveals the shameful way that our government has catered to the Israeli right — at the cost of Palestinian freedom — for our entire lives. All people of conscience must publicly reject Trump's plan for permanent occupation.
1/ Unfortunately, many Jewish & political leaders will be receptive to Trump's plan, calling it a starting place for peace.

So the grassroots of the community must be loud and clear: we condemn Trump's plan for permanent occupation. Sign our petition: actionnetwork.org/forms/american…
2/ As Trump is impeached and faces removal from office, his friend Netanyahu faces three indictments on corruption.

This is a political ploy by both leaders to distract from their abuse of power, designed to help Netanyahu win the election in less than six weeks.
