Today in Georgia, Republican lawmakers are about to pass a bill that would ban abortion > 6 weeks, before most women know they’re pregnant. We don’t even know if these lawmakers were legitimately elected bc GA uses unauditable voting machines. #ProtectOurVotes #gapol #NoHB481 1/

Dear @kirkpatrickdk: Don’t you think YOU had some responsibility to preclude the state from buying ballot marking devices w/ “integrated” scanners (ie, “Hybrids”)? As you were advised, hybrids, can change these machine-marked “paper ballots” AFTER they are cast. #gapol #HB316 1/

Dear @markniesse & @bluestein: Pls ask @GovKemp and @GaSecofState if THIS is the type of system they plan to buy 4 Georgia. #HB316 specifically allows BMDs w/ “integrated” scanners (hybrids) suggesting the answer is YES, but no one seems to have asked them directly. TY. #gapol

Remember when the news broke that @GovKemp’s office had failed to secure the voter registration system, so Kemp deflected by FABRICATING a story about Ds hacking it? He’s at it again, this time to deflect from @OversightDems’ investigation of the Georgia midterms. #gapol 1/

Businesses decide to locate employees where they will feel safe and free to make the best decisions. #HB481 takes Georgia in the wrong direction. Bodily autonomy is a baseline issue - and those who want Georgia’s economy to grow must speak up for 1/2 of the workforce. #gapol
The film industry relies on the willingness of companies to associate with GA, of actors to film here and of crew to locate here. Unlike the other film hubs like California, New York and Toronto, GA alone has been asked to grapple with a veritable ban on abortion access. 2/
This is not a distinction without difference. We are the 8th largest state, top 2 for films and on a national stage. Why risk women refusing to film here or reputational harm because GA is viewed as intolerant, sexist and mean? #HB481 is as dangerous to the economy as RFRA. 3/

Georgia was also the 1st state to deploy F-rated paperless unauditable voting machines statewide. They came from Diebold whose Sr. programmer was a convicted embezzler. ES&S, GA’s current vendor, bought Diebold in 2009. 1/

For one thing, the system routes the machine-marked “paper ballot” under the print head AFTER its been cast, so that bad actors could program or hack the machine to fill in fraudulent votes when no one can possibly catch the fraud. #gapol #HB316 1/
3/ The fraudulent votes would be analogous to the toxic emissions in Dieselgate because the inspection, the review by the voter (if any) and the manual audit, would come up clean.

Despite massive public and expert opposition, Georgia Republicans just passed #HB316, paving the way for new #Dieselgate (aka #BallotStuffing) voting systems for 2020. Manual Audits have ZERO chance of detecting the type of fraud these machines enable. cc: @markniesse #gapol 1/
I describe the #Dieselgate (some call them #BallotStuffing) new voting systems here. These machines invite undetectable election fraud. They are an affront to the notion of free and fair elections. 2/
This is the largest voting machine contract in the United States. Georgia will soon become the first state to deploy these relatively untested hybrid #Dieselgate voting systems statewide. 3/

For the millionth time, ALL voting machines, scanners, and ballot marking devices (BMDs) receive programming before each election from centralized county or (in Georgia) state computers that can & do connect to the internet! @stphnfwlr @markniesse @JohnnyIK 1/
These centralized computers are called election management systems & include the central tabulators that aggregate all precinct tallies. A flash drive goes back & forth btwn the central tabulator & the ONLINE (internet) reporting system as tallies are uploaded thru the night! 2/

Wow. The NY Board of Elections has requested reexamination of the state’s certification of the Dominion Imagecast Evolution based on its Permission to Cheat feature, which ES&S’s ExpressVote also includes as an option. Brian Kemp seems to want this option for GA. #gapol #HB316 1/
2/ Today’s article stating that NY is seeking to re-examine its certification of the Dominion ImageCast Evolution bc of this feature. via @honlarryvaughn freedom-to-tinker.com/2019/03/08/ree
3/ The problematic feature is that it includes an Auto Cast (w/o inspection) mode wherein the machine marks the paper ballot AFTER you select Auto Cast, which means it can make the ballot say whatever it wants for those voters who have chosen not to inspect the paper.
