One solution is diffusion
-reducing federal power (see below)
-breaking everything (companies, communities) into smaller, viable units
-declawing mass social media
-migration from cities/population diffusion

Another potential solution is a new constitutional convention to re-establish our values and goals. Several challenges there too.

A third option is to re-introduce teaching the fundamentals of Americanism & patriotism - civics, civic responsibility & civil service. This will take generations, but unavoidable if we believe American values are worth saving (even those we haven't always lived up to).
