@sd68bc threadreaderapp.com/thread/1354509… -- for those who do not know the "History of The Other Metis" in the RCAP reports.
Supreme Court of Canada - Daniels Decision - scc-csc.lexum.com/scc-csc/scc-cs… - pg 111/112 - section 17 - Image
On Metis identity - McCargar Vs Metis Nation of Alberta -caid.ca/MNADec2018.pdf - pg3 / . The Parties/
The Association. - Section 14 - s. One can resign from the Association, still be Métis, and still have or get many of the benefits of being Métis.. Image
cbc.ca/news/canada/ne… - /NunatuKavut/ Labrador Metis Nation - These people are recognized by the Supreme Court of Canada and do not belong to the MNC.
People who are causing trouble for this Speaker Series, apparently to not know their Metis history very well .. they only know their own. trc57speakerseries.ca
For an example, I am EasternMetis, I am from Nova Scotia. The Mi'kmaw first nation has taken the position that they have never heard of us. We are in their bylaws and constitutions in 1973. They have a written MOU saying we do not exist , since when does one Nation get to tell Image
people who they are. When historically we existed here but due to their land claims they do not want to recognize us. Which is fine with me. I am a SangMele mixed blood Metis with my own identity. We have 2 reports wrote on our people and communities from William Wicken and Janet
Chute, both PHD's and both expert court witnesses and historians in the Marshal case decision.
The Metis in SouthWestern Nova Scotia - William Wicken - Oct 2004. Image
The Metis in SouthWestern Nova Scotia-William Wicken Oct 2004- Mirligueche (Lunenburg) where a distinct metis community had emerged in the years after it's settlement by the Compagnie des cents-associes in 1632. Image
Janet Chute - A Good Day On The Aboiteau 2004 - study of the Acadian-metis of Eel Brook and Quinan area. Image
Janet Chute - A Good Day On The Aboiteau 2004- study of the Acadian-metis of Eel Brook and Quinan area- Glode Farm and the Great Pubnico Lake metis community 1840 to 1930. Image
The reaction to this, to me, says a great deal why Sebastien Mallet definitely deserves to have a voice and make our history known. We are not federally recognized and we do not get Millions of dollars in funding like MNC does to write our own history and research.
Department of Justice Report - A Historical Profile of the Southern Nova Scotia Area’s Mixed European-Indian Ancestry Community. - failure to take oaths of allegiance to the Crown was blamed on blood ties to the Indians of the colony. Image
I think you might want to ask yourself why MNC is screaming so loud about small communities who wants to have their voice heard. Shouldn't they be supportive? sangmele.net
The people who are opposing this, most of them have me blocked, so I can't name them all or want to .. but they do this in a group. It is a systemic, organized collective effort to shut down people's voices about their communities and identities. While they control the media and
the message. I hope I was clear and without explicitly coming out and saying what is happening here, I hope I have shown it to the best of my ability. I have tons of articles if anyone is interested in more history. If you have made it this far, thanks for listening to my
efforts to show we do exist.
Are you EasternMetis Pierre? If not , how do you know if it has zero to do with EasternMetis? And whether they were enfranchised or not, we have had this conversation already , Daniels Decision , Sect 17.. Says there is NO Consensus on who is METIS or who is NONSTATUS, so Pierre, Image
how are you making this distinction if the law says otherwise? Daniels Decision Section 17 - No one exclusive Metis people in Canada. Really Pierre, I am totally puzzled how you come to that conclusion? David Chartand himself has said, that as Western Metis lose their status Image
under the Indian Act, they will claim their Metis identity. He said that in a senate report. You wouldn't be implying that David Chartrand doesn't know what he is talking about would you? The People Who Own Themselves - Recognition of Metis Identity in Canada - Senate - YC28-0- Image
411-12 - David Chartrand - families will eventually reclaim their Metis identity , as generations lose their status under the Indian Act over time. pg / It looks to me like Chartrand is saying registered Indians are really Metis and not Indians? publications.gc.ca/collections/co… Image
pg 28 - It sounds to me Like Chartrand is saying thatYou have to choose to be one or the other? Lot's of Metis choose Bill C-31, Metis, Now Indian. So Pierre, I am not so sure why you are having a problem with it? It is a historical fact. publications.gc.ca/collections/co… Image
Metis election sees 70 candidates - 1993-08-30 - Windspeaker - lost 1000s of members in 1985 when Bill C-31 re-instated many Metis to status of an Indian. - These are Western MNC Metis, so why would it be different here? Image
sec 3.10 says an "Indian" means , and sec 3.12 says " A Metis" and this Eastern org, has nothing to do with the Metis who are in the "East"? the Métis Circle Special Consultation- Viola Robinson , asking if the Metis Nation Accord would be a vehicle that the Metis in the East Image
could use? Viola Robinson must have been confused then when she asked if the Metis in the East, which to me is #EasternMetis, would have access to Metis Nation Accord in the west! So does that mean Metis in the west are not Western Metis? I am so confused. Funny, Frank Palmater
was in New Brunswick and he was in the East and self-Identified as a Metis, which I am pretty sure makes him #EasternMetis. ImageImageImage
The whole Metis Circle Special Consultation - involved some of the #EasternMetis. Image
Windspeaker-8-may-1994 Frank Palmater - Metis Circle wraps up hearings - Eastern Metis. - Metis from Eastern Canada wrestled with the thorny questions of identity and definition before the Royal Commission Aboriginal Peoples at a Metis Circle Special Consultation in Ottawa. And Image
you are going to try and tell me that it only involved "enfranchised Indians" -- I think Pierre we could go together through documents and find out those "Enfranchised Indians" who lost status, and then had children, who were called half-breeds very much matter.
talking about the gov has divided the native into3 different classes - the non status scene - MicmacNews-1977-12 Image
CBC - RCAP - Viola Robinson sat on the RCAP commission. Image
Micmac News June 1979 - NO THREAT TO COUNCIL - President Viola Robinson says 75 percent of its membership is Metis because all children of a non-status Indian woman are classified as Metis. -- so you see Pierre, I think you are very mistaken. Or you think everyone is really Image
dumb, one or the other.
Also considering the west is the authority on Metis matters, they also identify UNSI ( Union of Nova Scotia Indians) members as being Metis. "Metis social- political movement-by Lusty, Terry,-1973- publisher - Calgary Metis Historical Society - Provincial map of Metis. ImageImageImage
Pretty sure this is where self-identification comes into play. Ya know. The important parts, worldviews, identities, cultures, how one views themselves. I am sure they didn't all identify as Metis.
Well that couldn't possibly be, because Darryl Leroux and gang says that no one here identified as Metis before the 1999 Marshal Case. And, ya know , he is the identity expert and will tell you who you are !! Except we seem to have #EasternMetis in 1973 bylaws Image
(Thank god for written bylaws). He seems to be busy discrediting the MNO Metis, cause there seems to be some land claims in limbo there. He couldn't possibly be doing the same thing here could he? Gasp 😲union UNSI supports Metis and Non Status Land Claims - 1980 07. Image
Our land the Maritimes - New Breed Feb-March 1980_www.metismuseum.ca Image
Our land the Maritimes - MicmacNews-1980-05.png Image
THE HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE NATIVE COUNCIL OF NOVA SCOTIA - 1987 - Native Council of Nova Scotia - Our Land - The Maritimes. -- well, will you look at that Pierre, they mention what happened and the dealing with Status, and Enfranchisement. Image
THE HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE NATIVE COUNCIL OF NOVA SCOTIA - 1987 - Native Council of Nova Scotia - Our Land - Other Achievements. In 1976 organized locals to evaluate the needs and special problems of NonStatus Indians and Metis in Nova Scotia. Image
@Occamsfork THE HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE NATIVE COUNCIL OF NOVA SCOTIA-1987-Native Council of Nova Scotia-Our Land-Political Achievements. 1978 The Liberal Gov, grants a meeting with cabinet and NCNS Executive to discuss the concerns and problems of the NonStatus Indians Image
(pretty sure those are the enfranchised ones, Pierre) AND Metis of Nova Scotia.
I think maybe you know this history Pierre, lol .. and might just be trying to confuse those who don't? Image
THE HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE NATIVE COUNCIL OF NOVA SCOTIA - 1987 -unique situation of the non-status micmac and metis - NCNS. Image
@Occamsfork NCNS = Metis and NonStatus Indian Association - that the gov labelled as "Metis", "NonStatus", "Off-Reserve" etc etc Image

Good, about time someone stands up to them. They work in half-truths and gangs and publicly shame people into silence. @CBCIndigenous - Use US Indigenous politics from Kim Tallbear to police Indigenous identities in Canada, when the US doesn't even recognize Metis peoples.

@ChanceFinegan are you aware that Metis are in the Mi'kmaw's constitution and bylaws since 1973? Image
"MMF supported New Brunswick Association of Metis and Non-Status Indians to 1000 acres of land" "brandon-sun-jan-12-1977-p-1- Support Claim-NCC and MMF they support the claim of the New Brunswick Association of Metis and Non Status Indians to 1000 acres of land" ImageImageImage
"portsmouth-herald-jan-12-1977-p-28- Group backs Indian claim - NCC and MMF have told the NB Gov they back the claim of the NB association of Metis and Non-staus Indians." -- Hmm @ChanceFinegan doesn't seem like they were too concerned in 1977? This must be a recent concern?

@APTNNews Well coming from someone who is blocked from posting on their websites, I would like to say I am going to refrain from commenting, but not a chance in hell .. APTN only tells one side of a story, they control the message and the media and want people to buy this crap?
They have a few cases of what they call Fraudulent Identity and now they need a law to fine or lock people up? Using laws from the United States? When the US does not even recognize Metis people? Can you see it? Image
