(1) It's not the Presidential Seal, it's a drawing that is similar to it.

Yes, a former POTUS can sign off as President [Name.] They all do it.

He can call his office whatever he wants. It's still legally the OotFP.

The real issue is that...
(2) The one point in the body of Trump's letter that he should have emphasized more is the SAG-AFTRA's woeful record on tolerating convicted criminals, incl. child sex offenders.

"Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious."

He skimmed over that, and should not have.
(3) Writing the letter at all just looks like sour grapes. That's a fact. If you saw someone else do this, you'd call it that.

I've seen no sign yet that Pres Trump has resumed the more disciplined, effective style that made all but the final months of his presidency a success.
(4) Each mis-step chips more of that record away.

The left exaggerate or embellish (lie about) everything concerning him. Which makes their work less effective.

Conservatives like me, who want accountability from elected reps WHOEVER they are, have to do our own research.
(5) I don't mind doing my own research but man, it was easier when at least those in the MAGA movement could be relied upon to report the facts, most of the time.

I notice that factual reporting about the Capitol Riot is still only being done by a handful of people. Sigh.
(6) My hero (and he should be yours too), Officer Brian Sicknick, lay in honor at the US Capitol this week.

Not only did this selfless public servant die as a result of the riot, two other LEOs later died, one lost three fingers, and another may lose an eye. Over 100 injured.
(7) The appalling body and injury count among LEOs working at the Capitol that day seems to be disregarded by many conservatives who I used to think knew better.

The main cause was the failure to deploy a security operation to meet the level of threat (that was obvious to all.)
(8) Quite apart from whoever & however the riot was organized & incited, the woeful lack of proper security is at least as important as that.

And the fault clearly lies on both sides.

Trump should and could have ensured proper security. It was his sworn DUTY as president.
(9) Security in & (importantly) around the US Capitol that day was the job of BOTH the sitting president AND those in charge at the Capitol (McConnell & Pelosi, ultimately.)

I am not going to let any of them away with blaming their staff. The buck stops at the top. No excuses.
(10) Trump in particular had a duty to ask the right people for information about the security at the Capitol, before making any public statements that day.

By the morning of 1/6, it was too late to send the crowd home, but there was time to get the National Guard & more there.
(11) Those who died, and everyone else affected (all Americans, for starters) deserves to see a full investigation and (likely) criminal prosecution of ANYONE who failed in their duty that day.

I don't trust the left to let this happen, bc chaos and division helps them.
(12) I don't trust the right to let this happen, either.

Because it would implicate former President Trump, and possibly Sen McConnell, too.

My prediction is that in ten year's time I'll still be saying the same things about 1/6/21.

That's true of Benghazi, isn't it?
(12) There was never the appropriate kind of investigation into Benghazi. The Congressional theater was just that. Theater.

Ambassador Stevens and Officer Sicknick ended up having a lot in common. Died serving the US government, but their stories left untold bc of politics.
(13) Stevens & Sicknick also have in common: you can never discuss their deaths without batshit insane conspiracy mongers chiming in with garbage.

Look, they were killed by bad people. There are plenty more bad people where those ones came from, & we need LEOs to protect us.
(14) On 9/11/12 former President Obama had rescue teams on standby within range (Italy) & he FAILED to deploy them in time.

On 1/6/21 former President Trump had sufficient & appropriately trained DC NG teams nearby & he FAILED to deploy them in time.

Hold them accountable.

(1) Thoughts?

"The "Imminent lawless action" standard was established by the SCOTUS. Under this test, speech is not protected by 1A if the speaker intends to incite a violation of the law that is both imminent & likely."

Intent is the key part of this...
(2) Trump defenders are going to say he didn't have intent, and that this could never be proven.

But often, it can be. Intent can be inferred from actions or omissions. And I think there are plenty, over several weeks. Not just the speech at the Ellipse that day.
(3) Some of Trumps Dec/Jan actions or omissions are publicly known. Others are not, as yet.

A proper investigation may reveal crucial evidence. That needs to happen ASAP.

If that's the relevant SCOTUS test, then IMO it may well be met.

(1) My view on this: If true then, great.

Everyone with certain info should be an informant for law enforcement. It can save lives.

I'm really looking forward to the 1/6 court trials. Because I #BackTheBlue and some of those people caused the deaths of at least two cops.
(2) I said "at least" two cops to allow for more deaths to be reported in future.

Then while checking the spelling of a name, I found a THIRD cop is now dead.

Brian Sicknick was fatally assaulted. Howard Liebengood suicided. Jeffery Smith did too, 9 days after 1/6.

RIP.
(3) I anticipate we will eventually learn what evidence suggested that these two officers suicided because of serving at the capitol on 1/6.

Tragically, LEOs in general have a higher suicide rate than the public. So do doctors, veterinarians, firefighters, & military.

(1) Dems are thrilled about this bc they believe Dominion will win the suit. IDC much about Lindell or his claims, but I do know that if you're not careful what you say, you can walk right into legal liability & end up with no credibility &, often, no money. Hope it was worth it.
(2) And now I will provide context and background, bc there's never enough space in one tweet to do that.

I realize Mike Lindell is making claims about the election fraud that all sensible people can see happened. The nature of the fraud is that there were multiple parts to it.
(3) I agree that a large number of those fraud methods occurred in certain states (and in some cases, potentially in all states.) It's become very difficult to find reliable, accurate, sufficiently detailed information on all these cases.

(1) I warned y'all about the openly antisemitic Anthime Joseph "Tim" Gionet AKA Baked Alaska way back in 2016.

His record in activism/ petty crime is similar to that of "Ali Alexander" AKA Ali Akbar.

It's not "performance art": People get killed. See: 3/15/19 in NZ.
(2) On 3/15/19 in Christchurch NZ 51 innocent members of the public were shot & killed by an Australian male whose behavior & beliefs are not that dissimilar to what we've seen by some who unlawfully entered the Capitol on 1/6/21.

Maybe that's why my view differs from others.
(3) I am on the side of every person who was lawfully in the Capitol that day. Not just the politicians: the cops, the staff, and anyone else who wasn't there with the intent of threatening politicians to vote a certain way OR ELSE.

That's why so many are being arrested.

(1) My thought on this development.

There is a history of Trump or his associates intentionally allowing notes to be photographed by media. There is also a history of them doing it unintentionally.

For now, I'll assume these notes were written by Lindell, not Trump.
(2) Thoughts*. I meant to say these are my thoughts on it. I can never do justice to a topic like this in one tweet.

The info we can see in the photo of the notes is obviously incomplete, but there's enough that points to some of the batshit insane ideas of some associates.
(3) The followers of the batshit insane associates tend to believe that on J20 Trump will somehow magically make it all better by using the military, and making high profile arrests.

I'm here to tell you that most MAGA folk DO NOT believe this garbage. They hate the Qanon crap.

(1) Oh great. More remarks that will only fuel more division. Yeah yeah I know various people are gonna unfollow, block or say mean words to me for trying to assess this speech objectively.

You think I care about that rn? You don't know me at all. Start with my pinned tweet.
(2) From 2015, Trump's opponents exaggerated his flaws, made stuff up, & refused to see the good things he often did.

Part of the effect was to make his supporters dig in deeper to defend him. There was willful blindness.

Opponents should be glad eyes are opening up. But, no.
(3) People on both sides allow "emotional reasoning" (in quotes because it isn't reasoning at all) to invade the space in their mind where logical reasoning and basic empathy should be in charge.

My empathy never wavered but I did let emotion go too far.

That said,
