WORLD’s SECOND SINGLE DOSE #COVID19 vaccine—an Ad5-nCoV vaccine by CanSino, showed 91% efficacy rate in preventing severe disease, & effective to prevent 65.7% of symptomatic diseases in P3 trial. Comparable to J&J’s 66% efficacy, with no freezing needed. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
2) single-shot vaccines offer some advantages over the cutting-edge mRNA inoculations from Pfizer and Moderna. The mRNA two-dose shots require deep-freeze storage and risk spoiling if thawed too quickly. CanSino and J&J’s candidates are easier to store...
3) and don’t require people to return at a set time for the second jab -- something that’s hard to guarantee especially in developing countries. “The single-shot is an important factor—when you ask people to show up for a 2nd shot 3 weeks later, people will forget or not care.”
4) Here is the data on the other single shot vaccine by J&J. It was 66% overall, but lower in South Africa where there was the #B1351 variant—57%.

I feel like the guy on the right some days. I honestly don’t enjoy any of this #COVID19 tweeting. I do see hope, but to reach the light at the end of the tunnel, we need sobering reality of how to fight for daylight, not dismissive downplaying or hiding our heads like an ostrich. Image
2) We don’t need “sweet little lies” about how it’s just the flu (it’s not), how salvation is natural infection herd immunity (dangerous), or that kids are immune (they aren’t) or that kids don’t transmit the virus (they do, a lot), or that we can have indoor dining (we can’t)
3) I’ve been called “fear monger”, “fear peddler”, “attention seeking charlatan”, or a “Soros paid actor”, or “not an epidemiologist” (Harvard SPH, Dept of Epidemiology 2004-2007), or my favorite- “Dr Feigl-Doom”.

I’ve heard them all. I have zero agenda but to end COVID.
