It's not complex at all. We want a host and program that is balanced. We want a program that holds the current Government to account, rather than the opposition. We want a program that presents corruption as a continued pattern with this Government rather than isolated events.
When Gladys lies to ICAC we don't want #abc730 to conclude she has done nothing wrong. We don't want a host that lies about being trapped in Victoria. We don't want Richard Colbeck given an interview with softball questions when he finally accepts an interview.
We want #abc730 to report when a judge labels Alan Tudge's actions as criminal, not ignore it. We want a host that doesn't block viewers on Twitter who ask for the Tudge story to be covered! We want a program that asks epidemiologists about health decisions, not cricketers.
We want #abc730 to mention climate change when covering drought stories. We want water theft mentioned when reporting on water shortage. When there is a budget update and a NSW COVID outbreak, we want #abc730 to report that instead of providing a 'yearly recap'.
We want #abc730 to mention the Senate Inquiry and Aged Care Royal Commission when reporting on Aged Care. We want the host to treat guests with respect and not alter their aggressiveness in an interview depending upon their clear political biases.
We want less emotional stories and more factual reporting on Government actions that led to the situation of the people with those stories.
When the Treasurer is interviewed, we want questions on their economic management, not deflection questions on vaccines and China.
In short, we want @latingle to host. We want a balanced program that reports the facts. We want the truth of every matter, free from political influence regardless of whether the truth reflects poorly on the Government of the day.
The criticism is deserved @CMscreens. She treated the presser as an interview, asked questions that had been answered previously and she asked questions based upon incorrect assumptions. She wasn't there to do real journalism. A pity you don't mention this in your article Craig.
Praise mainly from the right wing. Which proves the criticism was legitimate.
Yet she wasn't at @ScottMorrisonMP's press conference the other day. Clear bias.
Which is why we are saying #ThisisNotJournalism. Suggesting a Premier go against Health Advice in a pandemic is ridiculous. Sales should be ashamed of herself.
.@CMscreens it wasn't partisanship. If a journalist attacks a Premier (as Sales did) and suggests he ignore health advice, that is politically biased reporting. Victorian's are sick of the biased MSM pile on. The backlash on Twitter will only get stronger as it continues.
Did you consider for a second @CMscreens that the criticism could be legitimate? That's the problem. That's why #ThisisNotJournalism exists. MSM and Journalism can't accept criticism and they double down when they recieve it.
There is always an excuse for criticism. Twitter is sexist, racist, homophobic, whatever helps deflect criticism. If the criticised jouro doesn't fit a discriminated group then the public "doesn't understand journalism."
Rubbish. We understand and we know bias when we see it!
(Of course, there will always be sexist comments directed at female reporters. The internet is full of angry trolls and sick people. These comments should not be used as a means to disregard legitimate criticism however).
What does George Pell have to do with Daniel Andrews? Why didn't Leigh Sales cite interviews where she went in hard and tough on Liberal Politicians before an election? Could it be that such interviews don't exist? #abc730#ThisisNotJournalism
Or maybe we just want balanced reporting that works on facts, free from political influence and budget cuts?
Probably guilty of this, #abc730 should stop giving me easy attacking points for clear bias and I wouldn't be able to do it!
No it's not. Like all ABC political programs, such as The Drum and Insiders #abc730 is going down hill due to budget cuts and political interference. This pathetic puff piece doesn't change that!
I agree. @latingle is the only reason many people still watch #abc730. She is fantastic and the pinnacle of journalistic integrity. Leigh Sales could learn a great deal from Laura Tingle!
Very concerning that #abc730 is being defended by Costello's Nine Entertainment. That should tell you all you need to know about the our media landscape. It's practically all biased in favor of the Liberals and don't think for a second that #abc730 isn't. Have a good night people

An unusual situation article here from Nick Tabakoff. Terrible journalism, defending terrible journalism. A short thread. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ #auspol#LeightheLiar#thisisnotjournalism
Journalists hate Twitter because they can't control the right of reply and they can't silence criticism. Twitter users are entitled to 'pile-on' whoever they want, whether it be justified (as it was in this case) or not.
A stupid question that had already been asked by other journalists over the weekend. Sales received the same answer that Dan had given previously!
Australians will be among the first in the world to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, if it proves successful, through an agreement between the Australian Government and UK-based drug company AstraZeneca. - Morrison Media Release 19/8/20. A thread on Vaccine Announcements! ⬇️⬇️#auspol
“The Oxford vaccine is one of the most advanced and promising in world, and under this deal we have secured early access for every Australian,” - @ScottMorrisonMP
Despite promises we would be 'among the first' and 'early access', not one Australian have received a vaccine!
Morrison's vaccine program is another case of announcements and re-announcements with no actual outcome for Australians. It's all smirk and mirrors. Photo ops and no follow ups. This thread will list every major Media Release / Announcement on the vaccine to Australians!

Insulting, stupid, homophobic, biphobic or transphobic questions asked during the debate on the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020 last night. Naturally with the member named and shamed. A thread! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ #auspol#springst#LGBTQ
"If, for example, somebody goes to them and
says, ‘I feel that I need a gender transition’, and the person says, ‘I don’t think that’s a very good idea’,
does that make them liable to be charged?" - Bernie Finn
.@JaclynSymes excellent answer "I assume you would be referring to seeking advice from a medical practitioner in relation to gender transition, and nothing in this bill changes the advice, support and medical treatment that a qualified medical professional deems appropriate."
The counter argument here is so obvious. The real threat to democracy in Australia is Mainstream Media. Specifically Rupert Murdoch / News Corp. One could argue that NOT having biased journalism easily accessible via Google would actually help democracy. #MurdochRoyalCommission
This is wrong. This legislation was not driven by the ACCC. The Government asked them to draft it. Yes, this is an opinion piece but the facts matter. You'd expect the Director of The Centre for Responsible Technology to be aware of this fact.
A short thread on young Australians, their engagement in democracy and the hypocritical comments from Alan Tudge regarding students in politics. This thread is not an attack of @RurbsOz's article as I believe it is informative and well written. ⬇️#auspol
Naturally, I can't disagree with the results but I would point out a few things: 1) In my view the average adult doesn't know the basics of our democracy either. We know how to vote but many don't understand how the two chambers work, or what a double dissolution is.
2) I believe adults are more concerned with the impact of Government actions on their lives rather than the logistics of bill assent. 3) I believe students are the same. When it comes to politics they are more likely to care about climate change than how the Senate works.
