Lie No 10: Xinjiang forced a large number of Uygurs to pick cotton, contaminating the global supply chain. Image
Fact check: A few years ago, when the cotton harvesting season came in autumn, many migrant workers from Henan, Sichuan and other places would travel to Xinjiang by train to pick cotton. They were joined by local cotton pickers of various ethnic groups.
These migrant workers from both Xinjiang and other places of China went for cotton picking on a voluntary basis, and were paid up to 10,000 yuan a month.
In recent years, cotton production in Xinjiang has been highly mechanized. Even in the busy harvesting season, there is no need for a large number of cotton pickers.

Embassy Spokesperson released the following response to the British politicians' wrong remarks on #Xinjiang-related Issues. 1/10 chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/PressandMe…
So-called "gross human rights abuses" against Uighurs &"forced sterilization&abortion" of Muslim women are sheer lies. From 1978 to 2018, population of Uighurs in Xinjiang doubled, from 5.55 to 11.68 million. This ironclad evidence proves above claims do not hold water. 2/10
Xinjiang has sustained serious attacks at the hands of terrorists and extremists. In recent years, in face of the grave situation, counter-terrorism and de-radicalisation measures have been adopted in Xinjiang in accordance with law. 3/10
