Lie No 11: Xinjiang adopts an assimilation policy towards ethnic minorities in an attempt to systematically eliminate the Uygur culture.
Fact check: All ethnic groups in Xinjiang enjoy full freedom to preserve or reform their customs. China’s Constitution and laws are strictly abided by, and great importance is given to protecting and developing the tradition & culture of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang.
The cultural heritages of all ethnic groups, including Uygur, Mongolian, Hui, Xibe minorities, are protected. Cultural relics such as Tomb of Afak Hoja in Kashgar, Tomb of Tughluk Tumur in Huocheng, and Zhaosu Lamasery have been properly renovated and preserved.
Traditional cultural events, such as Uygur "Meshrep," Kazak "Aytes," Kirgiz "Kobuz Ballad Singing Fair," Mongolian "Nadam Fair," and Xibe "West Moving Festival" have been well preserved and widely carried out in Xinjiang.
A number of new performances with distinct ethnic and regional features and reflective of tremendous shifts in the new era such as Uygur play "Gherip and Senem," Kazak "Aytes," and Kirgiz "Manaschi" ballad drama "Manas" have been staged.
Customs of ethnic groups in diet, festival, wedding and funeral are fully protected. Ethnic minorities enjoy statutory holidays during their traditional festivals, such as Corban Festival and Eid al-Fitr.
Ten spoken and written languages are used among the people of ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Languages of ethnic minorities are widely applied in the judiciary, administration, education, press and publishing, radio and television, and on the Internet.
Primary and secondary schools in Xinjiang offer courses in Uygur, Kazak, Kirgiz, Mongolian and Xibe languages. The RMB currency is printed in Chinese, Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur and Zhuang languages.

Lie No 10: Xinjiang forced a large number of Uygurs to pick cotton, contaminating the global supply chain.
Fact check: A few years ago, when the cotton harvesting season came in autumn, many migrant workers from Henan, Sichuan and other places would travel to Xinjiang by train to pick cotton. They were joined by local cotton pickers of various ethnic groups.
These migrant workers from both Xinjiang and other places of China went for cotton picking on a voluntary basis, and were paid up to 10,000 yuan a month.
In an MOU exchanged between China and the UK, the UK has explicitly pledged that #BNO passport holders who are Chinese citizens residing in Hong Kong shall not have the right of abode in the UK.
The UK has now, in total disregard of the strong opposition and repeated representations of the Chinese side, offered a route for BNO passport holders to the right of abode and application for citizenship in the UK.
So-called "gross human rights abuses" against Uighurs &"forced sterilization&abortion" of Muslim women are sheer lies. From 1978 to 2018, population of Uighurs in Xinjiang doubled, from 5.55 to 11.68 million. This ironclad evidence proves above claims do not hold water. 2/10
Xinjiang has sustained serious attacks at the hands of terrorists and extremists. In recent years, in face of the grave situation, counter-terrorism and de-radicalisation measures have been adopted in Xinjiang in accordance with law. 3/10
