Quick #thread on #CovidVaccine in #Chennai based on experience of taking a number of elderly folks to get vaccinated. If you are planning to take your parents for the jab, don't stress. Here's what to expect. (1/n)
1. Most hospitals are taking walk-ins and registering them online. If cowin.gov.in is giving you a headache, don't worry. You don't need to register online. Just go to a hospital nearby. Some are giving tokens, others are handling on first-come-first-served basis.(2/n)
2. Be prepared to wait at the hospital. Take your parents' original Aadhar card. Hospital staff will do registration (it takes time as the system is probably overburdened). Payment of Rs 250 has to be made for vaccine (free in govt hospitals). (3/n)
3. Next your parents will have to speak with a doctor in the hospital who will note down details of any comorbidities they may have & allergies, if any.

4. After this, the vaccination is done. (4/n)
5. Post vaccination your parents will be asked to sit for half hour in the hospital. This is to monitor whether they have any strong adverse reaction to the vaccine. After the wait, you're done. (5/n)
6. Please remember the vaccination process is complete ONLY if the second dose is taken. One dose is not enough. The nurse will inform you as to when the second dose has to be taken. (6/n)
7. Different people have different reactions to the vaccine. Fever, headache, body ache and a feeling of tiredness are quite common. Don't worry - it means the vaccine is working. Symptoms last for a day. If injection site hurts, apply ice pack. (7/n)
Healthcare professionals have been working non-stop for more than a year now to handle #COVID19 and now they are leading an extraordinary effort to safeguard the population. Please be nice to them. And please be patient. It's not easy to be them. (n/n)
PS: My mom got vaccinated at Billroth Anna Nagar and my in-laws, aunts & uncles at Apollo Vanagaram. At both places the staff, doctors & nurses were wonderful. Totally recommend.

A lot of debate around #ArnabGoswamiArrested and whether journalists should stand by him or not. Key debate points: (a) He does not do journalism; (b) FIR has nothing to do with his work; (c) Suicide note named him.

So let me see if I can break this down. #Thread (1)
(a) He does not do journalism: Agreed. @republic largely produces misinformation and opinionated content leaning in favour of the current ruling party at the centre. There is little real reportage and does not tick the boxes of journalistic rigour.

Now onto the next point. (2)
(b) FIR has nothing to do with his work: Technically correct. Case relates to abetment of suicide charges. But let us not forget that the state & police are notorious for using/foisting charges unrelated to the actual "offending" work done. Cases in point are Jagendra Singh (3)

A #thread on #CAA and #NRC . Bear with me coz this is likely to be long. Let's look at the 4 different items on the table here - #CAA, #NRC, #NPR and #Census.

#CAA is an amendment to allow fast tracking of citizenship to 6 persecuted minorities in 3 countries.
#NPR is a register of the residents of the country. This is a list of people who have lived in a place for at least 6 months.

#NRC or #NRIC is created from the #NPR using a process by which you have to show citizenship.
#Census is an enumeration of all people living in the country with various details.

Now the #NRC in Assam was conducted due to a court ruling. In Assam and the North East, there is a problem of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants coming through porous borders. So it was conducted.

Since a number of people have been asking about the details of the police complaint I have filed with the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. Thread below with the key points.
I had previously lodged a complaint with your esteemed self on 11 September 2017 regarding the incident of my bike being photographed by an unknown person, as a sequence of events attempting to intimidate and harass me, following my exposes on illegal beach sand mining in the..
..state. The latest incident is one of a clear violation of my Constitutional right to privacy. It amounts to stalking and harassment under the law as well. On 27 August 2018, an online portal called savukkuonline.com has published a blog titled “Kolamaavu Sandhya”...
