#Balochistan: The BLA released footage from an attack against a Pakistani Frontier Corps outpost in #Kotri last month. Quite typical for them but certainly interesting.

1/
Attack comes with the remote outpost coming under fire from attackers using SVD or PSL DMRs. One FC Guard is killed by the first shot from long range, another manning an MG3 is hit, and another shot barely misses another. The post is also hit by general small arms fire & RPG.

2/
Attackers then move in closer- these are armed with AK, RPG and grenades. A grenade is tossed next to a defender at extremely close range, whilst others come up the steep slopes. At this point it seems around 4 FC are dead, mainly from ranged fire.

3/
The attackers can then be seen gathering at the edge of the post, shooting over the top to keep heads down. We can see the group clustering, but seems they had no concern from fire at any other angle, or any defenders throwing grenades. The DShK pattern HMG is not used.

4/
At this point the attackers have already got into the outpost and already started passing weapons back (MG3 seen), then enter the outpost. We see graphic proof that the covering marksmen did indeed hit their targets.

5/
Attackers then engage in some limited CQB- at this point BLA fighters on the other end of the compound have also made their way in, so any defenders left are killed swiftly.

6/
The attackers proceed to loot large quantities of ammo, small arms, and kit from the outpost. Note: Attacker in Pic 2 with SW9VE, originally Afghan Army/Police equipment and purchased by BLA. We see here SVD, Type 63 107mm rocket, and kit grabbed.

7/
The outpost is comprehensively looted, from 107mm Launcher, to mortar bombs/mortar, clothing, quantities of G3A3 rifles to fresh food and drink and cooking utensils.

Seems they had plenty of time and decided to take it all.

8/
This shot is particularly surreal- BLA fighters mill around and loot the post as livestock watches.

9/
The outpost is then burned and abandoned, and the attackers retreat back into the mountains with all their captured materiel.

10/
Capture is impressive in the local context- large quantities of belted 7.62x41, MG1A3 (MG3), at least 9 G3A3/G3P4 (G3A4) rifles, No.36 Mills nade(s), a DShK/Type 54 HMG, and large quantities of API-T 12.7x108 ammo, a mortar & random kit. Most of which BLA don't usually use.

11/
Unfortunately for them, the FC post was totally unable to deal with the ranged fire covering fighters advancing right up to the post. Don't comment on tactics but there seems to have been opportunities missed to stem the attack- BLA clearly had the 3:1 advantage tho.

12/
This is just another of these videos, but is an excellent example of the kind of insurgency ran by the BLA, including the focus on looting *everything* of value, including useful materiel.

In a small surprise (Type is not unexpected, but it seems that cells moved launchers reasonably close to the target, 7km was claimed), the rockets used to hit #Erbil seem to be the Haseb/Falaq-1/Fadjr-1 107mm artillery rockets made by Iran.

#Kurdistan
I don't understand how people are acting mystified about how these were launched so close to Erbil- wouldn't regard it as that hard to get a covert vehicle launcher like this in the area, even easier if 2-6 tube portable launchers, easily fabricated

aaand pics of the launcher(s)- as I suspected at least 2 launchers, one 10 tube & another 8 tube, for a total of at least 18 rockets fired, minus at least 3 that didn't fire.

V. similar to other launchers seen last yr. And the Iranian rockets, ofc- made 2015, MJ-1 pattern fuzes.

Seems the BLA published footage of their attack against a Pakistani FOB in Bolan #Balochistan. Interesting to note that the planning for the large attack (30+ fighters) included a sand table. Fighters armed with a variety of small arms.

1/
This includes various AKMs (Including w/ GP-25 UGL), Type 56, M249, RPG-7 (With what appears to be Iranian PG-7-AT1), PK/M (Including Zastava M84), SVD Dragunov, Lee-Enfield etc

Rare to see BLA with HEAT projectiles- usually OG-7V/similar are used. Depends on target.

/2
Attack looked complex and seemed to involve harassing (long range) fire, some CQB from fighters armed with AKs, RPG use, etc. Unfortunately no close footage was shown but the base was overwhelmed.

Footage then shows fighters in the base with killed FC.

[THREAD] On the recent ISIS Sinai video.

This is done with help from @war_noir, go follow.

As the ISIS insurgency in the Sinai continues, this video shows a very interesting mix of SALW, with some usual suspects appearing, but also more interesting things...

1/
First, the most prominent feature of the video is (as always), large IEDs blowing up army vehicles, with varied effectiveness. This has been a constant for years by now.

IS Sinai retain substantial IED expertise, with these...

2/
Also being laid in an anti personnel manner. Multiple targets are seen hit. Conventional close-range attacks are seen also.

#Balochistan: BRAS released footage of an ambush against Pakistani Frontier Corps, leading to the destruction of 2 vehicles, 15 deaths & various weapons captured.

BRAS/BLA are proven to have the ability to conduct effective ambushes using small arms & RPG against technicals.

1/
The video starts with two soft Toyotas being hit by large quantities of small arms fire from SVD/PSL, PK(M), AKs and M16s from above the road. They swiftly crash and BRAS insurgents push the vehicles.

2/
Fighters carrying AKs and M16A4 advance on the pickups and pump rounds in at close range into the Frontier Corps in the back. It appears to me that at least 3 were executed there and then next to their comrades.

The insurgents seem to have no time concerns.

Latest #Pakistan Taliban video abt their snipers is quite interesting. Fighters are seen travserving the rugged mountains of the border regions, before using SVD rifles to snipe Pakistani troops.

Quite well edited/filmed. Note variety of camo/lack of here, and captured G3A3.

1/
Fighters are seen using their Chinese/Russian SVDs (Strictly a DMR, but likely the best option available) to hit Pakistani troops at small outposts and bases. They seem to successfully avoid being silhouetted. Level of concealmeant varies from this....

2/
..to this. Militants seem to take advantage of the terrain to ambush Pakistani authorities' vehicles (Pic 3) and to get close enough to kill soldiers/border corps etc unwise enough to reveal themselves. Pic 4 shows a shot man tumbling. The terrain is really interesting

Latest ISIS vid frm #Afghanistan is mostly criticising the #Taliban but here I's post stuff I found interesting from the combat/ghanimah, mainly from Kunar/Nangarhar in Summer 2019. No particular order.

Capture of Pulsar & ATN thermal optics from Taliban fighters seen here.

1/ ImageImageImage
Quite rarely seen good practices like this sniper (Note foreend resting on a bag) using an SVD.

Much of the footage is ISIS fighters hitting Taliban from long range with MG fire (3rd pic)

2/ ImageImageImage
Young fighter with AKM and GP-30 UGL. Note AK-74 style muzzle device, cell attacker with what seems to be an AKS-74/74U copy, although this is a little unclear.

A extremely rare Type 1 AK captured in Nangarhar, these do turn up from time to time.
