Non-Violent War: Sun Tzu For Local Patriots

A county needs a soul. It has its own already, but most of us can’t access it and it can’t make decisions. No, it needs a single patriot to arise as its spokesman, one who will dedicate him- or herself as such.

2) I offer but a single parameter of qualification. The County Soul will read the 12 books I recommend and will read them with his or her county in mind. You may believe me when I tell you I know how bold I am in so saying. I do. Yet here's my list.

3) Let us turn now, then, to Master Sun Tzu. I have named my project: #SunTzuForMAGA. For a bit over 6 months, I carefully wrote a verse-by-verse commentary on that mission and logged its link here: @WarForAmerica21. You will want to check it out!

4) Then for another 4 months or so, I continued, but failed to log the link each day. Although I do regret that, I plan still to correct it. That is, I plan to capture each commentary posted, and add it to the digital table of contents there. I hope Twitter will allow this.

5) I won't discuss my qualifications right now, other than to say I have studied and employed Master Sun's guidance since 1987. That, plus I have collected and studied around 50 various translations and selected Minford and Giles as my two great translators.

6) Here's my last point of preparation, prior to application. It is chapter 1, verse 2. It is the link to my commentary on that verse which I recommend you read now.

7) "There are Five Fundamentals for this deliberation, for the making of comparisons and the assessing of conditions: The Way, Heaven, Earth, Command, Discipline."

8) If I tell you America has a destiny, you won't disagree or fight. Your mind will accept the statement, easily, readily, comfortably. No one goes philosophical or asks tough questions like: how? How can a nation have a destiny? You see, we believe in nations. Rightly so.

9) But if I tell you that your state has a destiny, you'll tip your head. The Commonwealth of Virginia has a destiny? Most modern Virginians have never had that thought. Of course, Texans know that about Texas, but well, they just Texans after all.

10) But if I tell you that your county (we don't even capitalize that word) has a destiny, you'll like blanch on me. Albemarle County has a destiny? That is the precise manner in which I must learn to read Master Sun Tzu. As if my county had one, and I cared.

11) I wasn't born here. I don't know if I'll die here. So obviously, I'm not qualified to be the Soul of Albemarle County. That's what I'm looking for. I am looking for a born resident with no plans to leave, no possibility of leaving. One with a dream to both live and die here.

12) It's not that a transplant won't do. One might. But it is that a native is preferred. Here's a strange thought. I'm looking for a natural born county patriot. This is more than a question of loyalty. It is a question of identity. What is Albemarle County's identity?

13) I grew up listening to Ethel Merman's God Bless America. What a song. Could there be a God Bless Albemarle? Could there be 3,082 other such songs, also? Can a county have a destiny, a blessing by God, its own patriotism?

14) That is how I turn to the 5 questions of Master Sun's 2nd verse.

What is my county's way?
What is Heaven's will for us?
What is our Earth?
Who is our Command?
What is our Discipline?

15) But why? My nation's voice has been silenced. We The People of America may speak no more. Our Constitution is rent. Our freedom is gone. America has ended. 1789 matters no more. That's why. Our federal experiment is over. We have failed.

16) These decades of my life, I have enjoyed the unwitting freedoms a nation may provide its citizens. I never dreamed in my worst nightmares that our vote might be stolen, renditioned. But it has. It is this that cries out for war. Legal, non-violent war.

17) My own county is most likely to side against the freedoms of America. It already did so in 1983 in ways we may discuss another time. My county is not likely to fight for America's broken Constitution. Yet here I am. And here I hope to find a soul. Not me, another soul.

18) Is Albemarle County's Way also that of American Constitutionalism? How may we find the American Way right here within the Albemarle Way. Can the two be united? And if so, I say, not just for here but for 3,082 other counties also.

19) Here is my plan. I will offer Trewhella's book on The Lesser Magistrate to the Christian ministers of my county. I will create a list. I will write a cover letter. I will deliver a hard copy of his book - #5 on my list - along with my letter to each I place on my list.

20) I will apply Master Sun Tzu's guidance to the MAGA Mission right here in Albemarle, as long as here I live. I'll give my reading list to any I find who may be our county's soul. I'll do my best to be an Albemarle patriot.
