Today marks one year since Belly Mujinga was spat at whilst working as a ticket collector.
She died from COVID-19 just days later.
The unanswered questions around her death require an inquest & a full public inquiry #JusticeforBellyMujinga
THREAD 1/14🧵
Unanswered questions:
1. Why was Belly sent out to work on the station concourse at all, given her underlying respiratory condition (sarcoidosis)?
2. Why was she working without PPE at the time?
3. Why did it take a doctor's phone call for her employer to let her shield?
2/14
4. Belly and her colleague reported the assault to management on the day it took place.
Why were Belly and her colleague sent back out onto the station concourse in the aftermath of the assault in spite of their objections?
3/14
5. The Police were not made aware of the spitting assault until it was reported by @TSSAunion on May 11th - 7 weeks later.
Why did Belly's employer, Govia Thameslink Railway, fail to report the incident when it first took place?
4/14
6. Belly had issued a complaint of racism against her supervisor on 10 February 2020 which remained unaddressed by GTR at the time of the assault (21st March 2020).
Can we conclusively say that workplace discrimination did not play a part in her death?
5/14
7. Belly was not on the rota to work outside on the concourse that day.
Why she sent out into contact with the general public, especially given her underlying medical condition and was she ordered to do so?
6/14
8. Why did Belly's employer (GTR) fail to provide frontline staff with masks & PPE at the time, even going so far as to forbid them from wearing their own?
7/14
9. Why was Belly's employer (GTR) giving out medical advice that staff could have up to 15 minutes of contact with #COVID19 victims without being at risk of infection?
8/14
10. The police investigation found that the man in question could not have infected Belly because he had had an antibody test (which were highly unreliable at the time).
Did the police consult a scientific expert on the reliability of such tests?
9/14
11. GTR asked Network Rail for the CCTV footage in April 2020.
But why did they fail to inform Network Rail that an alleged assault had occurred at the time of asking?
10/14
12. Victoria Station ticket office (where Belly worked) was subsequently closed on health & safety grounds after inspection by ORR and/or HSE found it unfit to work in.
It still appears to be closed today.
What bearing did this have on Belly’s case?
11/14
13. Why did her employer (GTR) produce two different versions of its internal investigation findings – with only one showing that Belly’s condition had led to throat surgery and required regular medical check-ups?
12/14
There are other unanswered questions too.
Belly’s family deserves answers to all of them so they can begin to move forwards with their lives.
I'll be voting against The Covert Human Intelligence Sources Bill today.
This is the latest chapter in the attempt to wrest key scrutiny powers away from the judiciary, place British authorities beyond the law, and squash dissent.

This Bill would give legal sanction to a host of illegal actions - grave human rights breaches including murder, torture, sexual violence and a rafter of civil liberty violations. 2/8
To list a few covert operations & breaches: the shooting of lawyer Pat Finucaine in Northern Ireland, the SpyCops revelations of undercover officers having sexual relationships (and even children) with activist and the surveillance of left-wing MPs. 3/8
As #coronavirus cases increase locally (up to 36 cases in #Lambeth as of yesterday), more & more constituents are writing to me to complain that they cannot access testing. 1/6
One constituent writes to say they were sent to Romford to get a #coronavirus test for their child - a 3-hour round trip.
Another explains how he has tried without success to book a test for his wife. 2/6
Key workers are no exception to these issues either.
One teacher reports rising #coronavirus cases in their school among children, with teachers also unable to get a test.
A junior doctor reports they are having to self-isolate because their housemate cannot get tested. 3/6
