"ALEX Salmond was touted as a potential candidate for deputy prime minister in the UK Government after the 2014 independence referendum, according to Alastair Campbell's diaries."

You might want to read that comment a couple more times before the full implications hit you! 😮😲
"The revelations come in a serialisation of extracts from Campbell's diaries from 2010 to 2015, which exposes the turmoil behind the scenes of the campaign to keep Scotland in the UK."
"The idea for Salmond's Westminster role was said to have come from one of his former aides in 2015, shortly after he announced he was running for a seat at Westminster."
"Campbell, Tony Blair's former spin chief, discussed Salmond's potential role as deputy PM at a dinner with Aberdeen Asset boss Sir Martin Gilbert and former Salmond aide Geoff Aberdein."

Ah, yes, the very same, #Aberdein that arranged the 'meeting' for Salmond at home of FM! 🤔
#Aberdein appears to be a rather helpful fellow, always looking out for #Salmond's interests! 🤔
The very same discussion with #Aberdein that is the peg on which oppostion MSPs hang their condemnation of @ScotGovFM!

Alas, they have accepted his comments on blind faith, cloaked as they are in legal protection. 🤔

#Aberdein has NOT personally given evidence to the committee!
Yet, #Fraser was quick off the mark, to suggest that #ScotGovFM's evidence in person, was not accurate and not corroborated by the three companions of #Salmond that just happened to accompany him to the meeting with #ScotGovFM at her home. 🤔
This rather suggests that 'evidence' provided to corroborate what #Aberdein has told them he said or discussed with #ScotGovFM might be construed as untrustworthy 'heresay' - neither tested nor proven under oath!

Surely, this would never meet strict criteria used in a courtroom!
In a diary entry - February 4 2015, Aberdein said: “Alex really likes you.”

Wonder if he was asking for self or Scottish national interest? 🤔

#Salmond is described as a 'tactile' individual at centre of current controversy in Scotland relating to his inappropriate behaviour.
"Campbell wrote: “He said Nicola [Sturgeon] would be having mixed feelings re. Alex being in Westminster."
"But as the evening wore on – and he mentioned a couple of times that he had been speaking to Alex today – he raised directly the idea of Salmond as DPM in a Labour coalition government."

#Aberdein apears quite eager to avoid any misunderstanding and ambiguity over his request.
I'm puzzled - was #Aberdein asking for a friend, or was he asking what #Salmond had asked him to ask, on his behalf?

Why did #Salmond simply not make the request for position as DPM, directly, to avoid misleading anyone at any time then or in the future? 🤔
I don't know about anyone else but, I'm sensing a Déjà Vu feeling?!? 🤔

It is widely accepted that people are fairly consistent in their behaviours and what motivates them in pursuit of their goals.

You can certainly read #LiarJohnson like a well thumbed playbook!
“After the Q&A with Martin, during which I said I felt Labour could win – and said why – Geoff said you don’t believe that, you know he can’t win a majority, but he might do it with Alex in there as No. 2. I said I would try to sus it out.”

Dogged and persistant, for a friend!
"A book on the diaries is due to be published this month, but the extracts have been obtained by DCT Media, and published in the Dundee Courier and Aberdeen Press & Journal."

It's on the reading list beyond any reasonable doubt and certainly worth a closer look!! 🔍👁️
"He went on discuss his fondness for Sturgeon and deputy first minister John Swinney, adding: "Trouble was we painted them as awful and even though nationalism might be, they are not.""

Trouble with campaigning is that careless words to score political points can be damaging. 👎
"The Conservatives went on to campaign with graphics of Miliband in Salmond’s pocket, in what was seen as an attempt to steer voters in England away from Labour."

Any tactic will do, as a means to an end and everything and everyone else is simply collateral damage!
Tweet no. 6 above ☝️

*Another discussion, with the very same #Aberdein

Clarity is everything if you want to avoid misunderstandings and ambiguity!!

"This situation began with an extremely serious issue. The mishandling of an investigation into sexual harassment allegations. And I honestly wish that everyone’s focus had remained on that issue."
"But what we’ve seen since then has been the deliberate, systematic and entirely cynical exploitation of that issue to suit motives which are all too apparent today."
"The media in Scotland and throughout the UK is awash with speculation about the Sturgeon/Salmond psychodrama. The coverage of this has been culminated by one question, what does this mean for the independence cause?"

Remember the Free School Meal fiasco?!?

Many accuse #Tories of being out of touch with reality and people's everyday lives BUT the reality is that #LiarJohnson and his cabal in UK Government are from another planet!!

"Regardless of why, Yes supporters began March facing a slew of polling placing the independence movement on the back foot."

"But two recent polls suggest this decline may have halted."
"At the beginning of March, polling showed that No had a one- or two-point lead. Over the weekend, an Opinium poll for Sky News showed Yes with a two-point lead, and today’s BMG Research poll for The Herald shows Yes ahead by four points – 52% to 48%."
All these results are within the margin of error, meaning that if a referendum were held tomorrow the result would be too close to call. But that this has been the situation since the beginning of March suggests that the decline in Yes support has halted.

"Perhaps stealing public money to pay political party supporters, promising to boost national affluence and the economy but blocking exports and impoverishing the poor, or breaking international law, might bring on resignation."

Look no further than UK Government for evidence!⚖️
"But confusion over the date a leader heard about allegations of their predecessor being accused of inappropriate sexual harassment? How can that lead to resignation? How can that equate to breaching a Ministerial Code?"
"The call for her resignation was simply devised and leaked by the political opponents taking part in the Holyrood Harassment inquiry’s committee. They feel it might give them a little more chance to win more seats in the May election."

Rather suggests they have no credibility!

"The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), brought in to replace the funding lost due to Brexit, will not be allocated by the Scottish Government."

Scottish citizens elect @scotgov and @ScotGovFM to manage the strategic allocation of funds for the benefit of everyone in Scotland.
"Instead, Westminster will use the powers outlined in the UK Internal Market Act to allow it to bypass the devolved administrations and spend in devolved areas."

What guarantees exist to ensure appropriate use of funds, given UK Government's track record of cronyism and bribes?
"While within the EU, Holyrood was the managing authority of both the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF)."

@scotgov and @ScotParl evidently have a proven track record of managing these funds effectively for the benefit of all citizens.
