This 👇 is so true in the current scenario. I felt it to be #TooGoodNotToShare

#Vaccinations and the #PeltzmanEffect - explains why many people have become infected with the Corona virus after being vaccinated.

Let’s quickly understand as to What is this #PeltzmanEffect ?
Sam Peltzman taught microeconomics at Chicago in 1988.

The Peltzman Effect is a theory which states that people are more likely to engage in risky behavior when security measures have been mandated.
The Peltzman Effect is named for Sam Peltzman's postulation about mandating the use of seatbelts in automobiles - it would led to more accidents.

Safety perception increases risk appetite.

I received the following message this morning.
A doctor friend of mine laments: “I treated thousands of patients with #Covid19 for the last several months. But I was not positive. But after taking the vaccination, I became positive with the virus.”

Accounts like these are not uncommon.
The Prime Minister of a Country in Asia was vaccinated on a Thursday and became positive with the virus on Saturday.

I have heard similar stories about several law makers in various countries including in India .

Let’s quickly evaluate some known facts as below ..
1. The immunity against Covid 19 doesn’t build immediately after the first dose or even immediately after the second. Full fledged immunity takes a few weeks after the second dose.

2. Immunity is not absolute. Even after complete vaccination, a person can get infected.
His/her chance of dying or getting a severe infection requiring hospitalisation will be substantially less though as per the vaccine experts z

3. Not all vaccines work to the same extent. The efficacy varies.
4. Not all vaccines are effective against all the variants. A lot of vaccines are less effective against the newer variants as per experts.

Now what is this Peltzman effect? And why is it important to know about it?
Peltzman effect means behaviour compensating for the perceived risk. In other terms, people become more careful when they sense greater risk & less careful if they feel more protected.

This means that vaccines are giving a sense of security leading to increased risky behavior.
But the problem is that while vaccines neither give immediate protection nor full protection (against infection as against death), the sense of security unfortunately starts much earlier, even before the actual injection.
And Peltzman effect comes into play: people wear masks with less caution, do not maintain distance as soon as they reach vaccination centres.

The Peltzman effect in fact started for most people even before they took the vaccine.
Many people felt protected just looking at the vaccination numbers. The mask usage, social distancing and hand sanitisation have become progressively less.

While this is attributed mainly to pandemic fatigue, the Peltzman effect cannot be ignored.
While this behaviour is dangerous for general public, this can be disastrous for health care workers who directly deal with Covid 19 patients.

A lot of them can get infected in the present second wave impairing the health care services.
The Peltzman effect is also evident in the drastic decline in the usage of PPE kits by the healthcare workers.

It is important to vaccinate the majority of the people at risk.

But it is also important to be aware of Peltzman effect and be more careful until the effect
of vaccination takes us close to herd immunity.

Whilst Governments all over the world are trying their best to educate the masses, I think all of us have a social responsibility to spread the message.

Here is a definite instance where spreading awareness will save lives.
Please do share with all your near and dear ones so that #TogetherWeCan ensure we don’t succumb to the #PeltzmanEffect

When I reached 60, I asked a friend of mine who has crossed 70 and is heading to 80 about the sort of change he is feeling in himself?

He sent me the following very interesting lines, which I felt are #TooGoodNotToShare and do tell us something ..
✅After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.

✅I just realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
✅I now stopped bargaining with vegetables & fruits vendors. A few pennies more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.

I didn’t write this I it’s entirety & not sure who did - but WOW does it speak to my heart!

Worth a read & definitely #TooGoodNotToShare

Pl don’t wait to read it later!

Barely the day started & it's already six in the evening.

Barely arrived on Monday & it's already Friday.
Barely the month has started and is more than half over..

The year just began & one sixth is almost over

And already 30, 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed

And we realize that we lost our parents, some friends & acquaintances

And we realize it's too late to go back.
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...

Let's keep looking for activities that we like...

Let's put some color in our grey...

Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.

I read an #InterestingStory about a complaint regarding Vanilla Ice Cream that left #GeneralMotors puzzled and found it to be #TooGoodNotToShare

Moral of the story being ... “Never underestimate your Customers' Complaint, no matter how funny it might seem!”

Here we go ...
A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors:

'This is the second time I have written to you, and I don't blame you for not answering me, because I sounded crazy, but it is a fact..
You see, every time I buy a vanilla ice-cream, when I start back from the store my car won't start. If I get any other kind of ice cream, the car starts just fine.

I think I have shared this earlier but since it’s a new year and people will be working their financial goals for the year, I thought it’s a good time to refresh the #Rule72 .

If you find it useful and believe like me that’s it’s #TooGoodNotToShare kindly retweet ...
#WhatIsRule72

In personal finance, if we divide the number 72 by the rate of interest, we do get to know the number of years it will take for us to double the money.

For example if the rate of interest is 9%, simply divide the number 72 by 9% and the answer is 8.
Thus it will take 8 years to double our money if you invest at 9% p.a. rate of interest.

We can use this rule in reverse to know the rate of interest needed to double our money to achieve our set goal.

If we have 2.5 lakhs today and you need 5 lakhs in 5 years.

Humorous but true...

If #Corona had a year end appraisal, it would read like this:_

1. Responsible for #GlobalDigitalTransformation and fast-tracking.

2.Reduction of #GlobalCO2 emission.

3.Five million jobs #restructuring.
4.#GlobalHygiene initiatives:
Ensured 100% compliance on washing hands..leading to collateral reduction of other communicable diseases

5 Made global industry shift to #WFH - saved exposure & costs
6 Reduction in global noise pollution by making everyone keep their mouth shut (while masked).

7. Taught cooking, vegetable shopping, housekeeping to many.

8. Highlighted the importance of governance, adaptability and long term planning, by all sectors.

I read yesterday about the #PowerOfBlessings and felt it was #TooGoodNotToShare

Do you #BlessOrCurse?

When something goes wrong do you bless it or curse it?

Our natural reactions often lead us towards the negative, but that will only breed more negativity.
Catherine Ponder in her book, _'The Prosperity Secrets of the Ages', talks about blessing people and the situation. It is a very powerful tool and brings instant success manifold. It is a very simple way to say a positive prayer for someone or something.
One of Catherine Ponder’s favourites is “I bless you, and bless you for the goodness of God that is within you.”

You can #CreateYourOwnBlessings

When you are sending positive thoughts and vibrations towards a person they are much more likely to respond in kind.
