1/ When we say the #AmericanRescuePlan is delivering real results to crush this virus and rebuild our economy, here's what we mean.
2/ It raises the child tax credit to $3,000 per child ages 6 to 17 & $3,600 for children under 6. This alone will lift 55,000 Massachusetts children out of poverty. brookings.edu/blog/up-front/….
3/ It provides additional relief of up to nearly $1,000 through the Earned Income Tax Credit for 294,000 Massachusetts workers, including many frontline and essential workers. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
4/ it extends the 15% increase in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits through September 30 & extends the Pandemic EBT program through the summer, allowing families with children receiving school meals to purchase healthy food more easily.

The rules are clear: weapons have been banned from the House Chamber for over 50 years. But some of my Republican colleagues think they're above the rules. So we're taking steps to fine members who interfere with the Capitol Police metal detectors outside the House Floor.
A member of Congress recently tweeted, “Let me tell you why I WILL carry my Glock to Congress.” Another bragged he “was armed” during the insurrection. A third was stopped by Capitol Police bringing a gun into the chamber.
There are members of Congress who posted disturbing rhetoric against other members. Their words and actions raise serious safety concerns. And apparently, it will take a rules change to ensure people here follow the rules, just like everyone else. So we are taking action.

100 days ago the House passed the Heroes Act, an urgently needed bill to secure the strategic testing, tracing and treatment required to reopen safely, to provide strong support for our frontline heroes in state and local government, and to put money in the pockets of Americans.
As the Republicans’ deadly 100 days of inaction continues, the coronavirus is spiraling out of control.
Yet Senate Republicans and the Trump Administration continue to block this critical relief, instead presenting insufficient proposals and weak, unworkable executive actions that fail to meet the needs of hard-working Americans.

THREAD: I want to be as open & accountable as possible to the people of Massachusetts' Second District about what actions my team and I have taken to address the #COVID19 crisis.

Here's a list of some of what we've been up to. (1/?)
2/ Before we had any confirmed cases of #COVID19 in #MA02, I organized an emergency conference call with health care providers to discuss whether or not they had the information, tools, and resources needed to keep our community safe.
3/ Massachusetts needs a robust, coordinated federal response to this crisis. So the day after my conference call, our Congressional Delegation asked the @WhiteHouse Coronavirus Task Force to take urgent & specific steps to help our state respond. ⤵️

For over 50 years, America’s economic blockade against Cuba has been a complete failure. That's why I traveled to Cuba w/ @rosadelauro to build upon President Obama’s constructive dialogue between our countries and extend a hand of friendship to the Cuban people.
Not only does our embargo hurt the Cuban people, it hurts America, too. There are lifesaving medicines that have been developed and produced in Cuba that are not available here because of our policies. Our businesses want to trade w/ Cuba, but they can’t because of our sanctions.
During our trip, we met with Cuban entrepreneurs and biotechnology researchers, alongside with their American counterparts, to discuss opportunities for collaboration and investment.

1/ Another ridiculous lie from @realDonaldTrump.

From day one, @HouseDemocrats have been focused on delivering on our promises to the American people. Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell calls himself the “grim reaper” and refuses to even consider our bills.
2/ We have the receipts to back it up.
We passed #HR1, the For The People Act — the most ambitious set of ethics & election reforms in a generation. It gets big money out of politics, protects voting rights & strengthens ethics laws.
3/ We passed the #EqualityAct to ensure #LGBTQ Americans get the same legal protection as everyone else.

September is back to school month — but it's also #HungerActionMonth.
That's why this week, I introduced the bipartisan Healthy Breakfasts Help Kids Learn Act alongside @RodneyDavis to help make sure that no child in America goes to class on an empty stomach.
@RodneyDavis Nearly 1 in 9 children here in Massachusetts is food insecure. America is the richest country in the history of this world – yet there are 13 million kids here that deal with hunger or food insecurity.

That’s a national disgrace.
My sisters are both public school teachers. I hear from them all the time that when it comes to helping kids learn, healthy food is just as important as a textbook. We have millions of kids in this country who can’t concentrate because they are showing up to class hungry.
