1. On April 9th 1995 , 2 Palestinian terrorists driving massive car bombs, had drove into a packed Israeli civilian bus route 36 that was driving from Ashkelon to (the now evacuated) Kfar Darom and near an IDF force on Netzarim junction.
Approximately at 11:00 AM, Egged Bus No. 36 left the central bus station in Ashkelon in the direction of Kfar Darom, a now evacuated settlement that was located inside the Gaza Strip.
The bus was completely packed with 60 passengers, mostly civilians , but also many IDF soldiers.
At the same time, Khaled Khatib, a 22-year-old Palestinian terrorist and a member of the Islamic Jihad, a resident of the Nuseirat refugee camp, which knew the timetable of the bus , was hiding in an orchard, about 1 kilometer from the Kfar Darom junction waiting for the bus.
The terrorist arrived at the scene from the direction of Khan Yunis in a blue Volkswagen Transporter.
The vehicle loaded with tens of kilograms of explosives, grenades and shrapnel all disguised with crates of fruits and vegetables.
The terrorist was recruited by Nabil a-Sharha, a senior member of Islamic Jihad, also a resident of Nuseirat, who was responsible for recruiting and preparing many young people to carry out suicide bombings against Israelis.
It was part of a larger plan by the PIJ and Hamas, which followed the signing of the Oslo Accords, to carry out terrorist attacks, with the aim of torpedoing the fruitful and prospective political process between Israel and the Palestinians.
Meanwhile the bus was advancing on its way, with most of the passengers sitting in their seats, and the others traveling standing up.
When the bus arrived at the Kissufim checkpoint, it was joined by two military jeeps, one in the front and one in the back as security escort.
At around 12:00, the convoy of vehicles passed at the intersection, and turned north, toward Kfar Darom. Khatib began to ride on the dirt road, advancing towards the bus.
As the first jeep passed the car, the terrorist got on the road, speeding up towards the bus.
As soon as he caught up with the bus, he swerved towards it and collided with the part where most of the soldiers were.
According to testimonies from people who were at the scene, there was a loud explosion, and metal parts from the vehicles flew through the air a long distance.
Orit Taft, who was injured in the attack, will later recall : "We did not really understand at first what happened. There was a lot of smoke and grave silence. Then shots and shouts began. Every single person on the bus were seriously wounded, including me.I started helping "
The results of the bloody massacre were dire.
7 IDF soldiers and Alisa Flatow, a 20 year old American citizen of New Jersey were murdered in the attack and 52 were wounded, including 2 of Alisas friends , also US citizens.
Approximately 2 hours later, another VBIED will explode near an IDF border control force in Netzarim junction , 9 soldiers were wounded in that attack.
All of the attacks were claimed by the PIJ.
On December 25th 2003, in an IDF helicopter strike, in which a number of missiles were fired at a car in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, ,central Gaza city, senior Jihad official Nabil a-Sharha, who planned the attacks, was eliminated.
All of senior officials of the Israeli political echelon , including then PM Itzhak Rabin , visited the site of the attack.
On April 12, 1995, the Knesset held a special session regarding the attacks.
Pictured : Rabin at the site of the attack , short time after it occurred.
2. On April 9th 2008, Palestinian terrorists from the PIJ and the PFLP had attacked the (now abandoned) Nahal Oz gas and fuel terminal near the (now also inactive) Karnei crossing point on the #Gaza border murdering 2 Israeli civilians.
From 1994 to 2011 , Karni crossing point (west to Nahal Oz) was the biggest commercial and industrial commercial hub through which most of the businesses between Israelis and Palestinians in #Gaza was done and most goods transported.
Near the main crossing point there was a large fuel and gas terminal that was the main source of gas and fuel of the whole #Gaza strip
The terminal used to operate 24/7. Transporting to #Gaza daily amounts of 500,000 liters of gasoline and 800,000 liters of diesel fuel that are used daily by generators, vehicles, water and sewage pumps, as well as for power plants.
Approximately at 14:00 (2PM) the PIJ and PFLP terrorists started launching heavy mortar barrages towards the gas and fuel terminal prompting the workers to begin evacuation.
Simultaneously, the director of the Palestinian gas and fuel terminal called his Israeli counterpart warning him that the mortar fire looks like a disguise for a much bigger attack on the Israeli side of the terminal . After which he ordered the workers to flee.
As the evacuation began , while under mortar fire , 4 armed terrorists from #Gaza managed to infiltrate into the terminal immediately opening fire towards the civilian workers of the terminal.
The terrorists managed to murder 2 workers of the terminal, Oleg Lipson (37) and Lev Chernyak (52), before being engaged by IDF forces.
Oleg and Lev were friends and were both from Be’er Sheva , both left grieving families.
As IDF forces began attacking the mortar positions and engagin the terrorists in a gunfight the terrorists fled back to the strip on a car.
IDF jets struck the car , eliminating them.
The attack occurred just hours after after Seif Bissan IDF soldier was murdered by Palestinian terrorist sniper fire while during routine patrol along the border near Kissufim.
Since the attack the fuel and gas terminal was closed indecently and the main Karni crossing point operated at 5% capacity untill being closed off complete in 2011.
