It's a very busy #IJustSaidThat! podcast this week! So I've decided to detail it in a #thread, as we look back at my articles of the last week with analysis, perspective, and hopefully a few laughs. #auspol

PODCAST: "I Just Said That!", Episode No. 23 patreon.com/posts/podcast-…
First of all, one of the public broadcasters in Australia lies in the crosshairs of my "Almighty Serve" segment. But, in a first for the segment on the #IJustSaidThat! podcast, their actions are not of their own doing (but not completely, anyway).

#auspol
Then we get into the four public interest/investigative journalism articles I wrote this week:

(1) The reasons and processes of how your money is being hoarded by the government and businesses -- and yes, it's all connected.

#auspol
(2) A landmark "win" move for the gig economy, and specifically Menulog -- and yes, I do try and sing the Menulog jingle (poorly).

(Actually, in my own mind, I do equate my singing to @PatsKarvelas's dancing.)

#IJustSaidThat!
#auspol
(3) A pile-on -- in a good way -- by a number of gender equity groups in attacking the Morrison government's "Roadmap To Respect" response to the AHRC's "Respect@Work" recommendations, with a new statement of modest proposals.

#IJustSaidThat!
#auspol
(4) And the ACTU offers its solidarity with protesters in Myanmar, as the military junta in power kills its own people while the Morrison government weighs up a free trade agreement which involves that southeast Asian nation.

#IJustSaidThat!
#auspol
In that last segment, we see what would occur if I was reporting from the ground in Myanmar. (Spoiler alert: the ABC should not be worried.)

Enjoy listening -- and many thanks for reading and listening to all of my content on this Patreon. Your feedback is always welcome, and a couple of key comments figured into this week's edition of the #IJustSaidThat! podcast.

The current "free content" promotion continues for another 11 days -- so please share and help me promote it, and consider subscribing to this Patreon, for just $5 per month, as the paywall goes back up on May 1.

And I might add, this may be the best episode of the #IJustSaidThat! podcast to date.

My latest article, an #OPINION piece, for the @InsideFeedHQ sport website: Jordan De Goey should NOT play for Collingwood vs Geelong tomorrow. Nor should he have played since the alleged sexual assault charges were laid against him. #auspol #AFL #THREAD

insidefeed.com.au/post/opinion-d…
In fact, due to the alleged sexual assault charges against him, the club should allow him time to fight them. #AFL #auspol
I will make this clear from the outset: This is not an anti-Jordan De Goey take. Deep down, I’m sure he is a nice, upstanding young man. Nor is it an anti-Collingwood take – as much as I want my Geelong Cats to beat them tomorrow night. #AFL #auspol

My latest for #theAIMN: In addition to other perceptions of neglect from Tuesday night's federal #budget, add the arts & entertainment sectors to that list. And @withMEAA and Greens senator @sarahinthesen8 are none too pleased. #auspol

theaimn.com/budget-leaves-… via @AusIndiMedia
Excerpt from @sarahinthesen8: "The arts and entertainment industry was one of the first to be hit by social distancing restrictions, it has suffered enormously throughout the lockdown and will be one of the last to recover."

#auspol #budget
Although federal arts and communications minister @PaulFletcherMP announced several areas of funding for those areas, @withMEAA head Paul Murphy says that the arts and entertainment sectors still remain inadequately funded. #auspol #budget

My latest sport article for @insidefeedhq: Psychological warfare, from within -- that could best describe the pressure the @GeelongCats are under, with a cut-throat @AFL semi-final vs. @CollingwoodFC ahead. And is this their last chance? #AFLCatsPies

insidefeed.com.au/post/geelong-v…
As in, a last chance at @AFL premiership glory for @GeelongCats's veteran-laden squad? Sure, @CollingwoodFC also have an older list -- but given the uncertain futures of some players, would the window for winning a flag slam shut with a Cats loss? #AFLCatsPies
Or can the @GeelongCats -- a club with a list that can win a premiership -- bottle up this sense of the pressure to win "right now" to carry them past @CollingwoodFC, then past @brisbanelions, and then to another flag? #AFLCatsPies

My latest article on #theAIMN website: @MicheleONeilAU's reaction to the federal #budget on behalf of the ACTU @unionsaustralia was quick and lethal -- and did not mince words in declaring that workers need to benefit from it. #auspol

theaimn.com/budget-doomed-… via @AusIndiMedia
And in doing so, @MicheleONeilAU and the ACTU @unionsaustralia have lit the blowtorch on the Morrison government and the federal Parliament to get the #budget elements approved quickly for maximum effectiveness -- even without much of its #NERP plan taken into account. #auspol
And @MicheleONeilAU with the ACTU @unionsaustralia have advocated for the #budget's aims to be applied fairly across the board into the hands of working people, the unemployed and under-employed -- for all groups involving regions, age, and gender. #auspol

My latest sport article for the @insidefeedhq website: As Bill O'Brien was fired today by the @HoustonTexans as the first coaching casualty of the @NFL season, it was a clear-cut case that it was going to happen. #NFL

insidefeed.com.au/post/texans-sa…
An excerpt from my article:

"The NFL, rightly or wrongly, has a reputation of being a circuit governed by copy-cat decisions among its teams. And coaching moves are often no exception to this observation..."

In that spirit: who's next to go? #NFL
I've profiled four other NFL head coaches who may, or may not, deserve to be on the hot seat. And with O'Brien's sacking coming just four weeks into the season, are we bound to see a lot of other firings as the 2020 season goes on, and how quickly may the next one come up? #NFL

My #thread, to lobby to help #SaveOurABC... I'm determined to swear that it's not too late, and years of cut funding can be restored.

An essential part of our lives -- case in point, how they have been there for us during the bushfire and COVID-19 crises, Monday nights, etc....
At this point, our best recourse is to contact each of the communications ministers. They need to be held accountable, to help #SaveOurABC before it falls into LNP/IPA hands.

I will be providing Twitter handles, e-mail addresses, and office numbers. Public record info.
We need to let them know just what the ABC means, as an essential part of Australian life and as an indispensable service over the years, in order to reverse years of funding cuts.

And let them know respectfully.

Please RT widely, for maximum effect. #auspol #SaveOurABC
