FDTD – From Skimming The Beginning To Skimming The End

Having done a full skim, to having read the entire book on Kindle, my hard copy study still follows a type of skimming path. These are the two final pages, screenshot from my laptop Kindle.

2) There can be no question, Kindle's capabilities for search, highlighting, and searchable notations have transformed my reading and study practice. Yet, the hard copy process is only strengthened. Look...

3) I don't know why, but on Kindle I didn't even notice FTDT's last chapter title: Groundwork for Durable Democracy. Reading this chapter the 2nd time this morning in hard copy, it jumped out at me. Fascinating.

4) Then, on the photo of the last page of the book, you see I've noted something there that I've never noted before. It's a reference to my Kindle highlight and note. Integrating the two modes of study is a brand new skill set I'm only now constructing.

5) In a moment, we'll look at the content of Sharp's conclusion. Before we do, let's emphasize the power of stages of study. Here, let's focus on knowing the conclusion and keeping it in mind as you delve the author's argument building a smooth flow in mind.

6) Look with me now as we follow ONLY the chapter titles. Typing them in myself, there is kinetic learning benefit.

8) Rene Descartes teaches us that true understanding breaks all things down into simple parts in proper sequence, with a smooth flow of understanding both forward and backward. When you work with a table of contents that's precisely what you want. A smooth flow of mind.

9) As I typed in all 10 chapter titles, and imagined them as a type of geometric proof, each point following from the previous and leading to its successor, I happily found I do have basic ideas attached to and springing from each chapter title. Hurray!

10) Sadly, I discovered that my smooth flow broke on the shoals of chapters 6 & 7. Why do we have 2 chapters with such similar names, and what's the difference between them, indicating 1 chapter for each? I have a theory, but not a smooth understanding yet.

11) My theory is this. Sharp believes in strategic analysis and planning SO STRONGLY that it's actually one of his hidden points that all resistance hinges on it, and yet most resistors reject this most critical, most pivotal components. I remember noticing that in my 1st read.

12) I noticed Sharp’s passion for analysis and planning, and his tremendous emphasis upon it; also, his pains to explain why resistors must get over their own resistance to this aspect of successful transformation. What I don’t have, yet, is the reason it’s 2 chapters, not 1.

13) Indeed, I compulsively obsess over such seemingly minor factors. Yes, I know it's weird. Yet, you can tell I truly believe in such obsessive compulsiveness as if it were a good thing. I actually think it is. Proper study requires something very rare...

14) It requires a memory of one's own thoughts. It requires the ability to step outside one's thoughts and look back in, and then to find the strengths and weaknesses of one's own thinking. We might call this thought power. Believe me, it matters.

15) My new friend @codupont has urged we all read James Allen's great work, As A Man Thinketh. You can see I'm taking Descartes' guidance and applying it to study, and my method of study, I claim, is in full accord with Allen's guidance also.

16) There is a very simple answer to my breakage of mental flow. My next step will simply be to carefully reread and notate chapters 6 & 7, before I return to the beginning and read forward from cover to cover in the hard copy. I'll get that done rapidly, and report back in soon.

17) Sharp's ultimate goal is a Durable Democracy, kept safe from all attack, yet protected by exclusively non-violent methods. His ideal is, to be sure, nothing other than Marx's stateless utopia. Yet, the practical power of his analysis can't be doubted. Very interesting.

18) I hate it when I forget a source. I once read, somewhere, that ONLY a Communist State can be a PERFECT Democracy, since only it reflects the will of ALL the people. This redefining of terms thing they do is amazing. We need that definition to get Sharp's real intent.

19) Yet I truly believe Sharp is NOT an evil man, quite the contrary. He’s wonderful. As I’ve come to know him through his work more, I have come to term him my beloved enemy. I greatly respect Marx but detest him. He’s NOT a beloved enemy.

20) Remember the highlighting I did on the last page? Here, I've copied that portion from my Kindle on my laptop, easy as pie. This is the end point to keep always in mind while studying From Dictatorship To Democracy...

21) There are three major conclusions to the ideas sketched here:

• Liberation from dictatorships is possible
• Very careful thought and strategic planning will be required to achieve it
• Vigilance, hard work, and disciplined struggle, often at great cost, will be needed.

22) The oft quoted phrase “Freedom is not free” is true. No outside force is coming to give oppressed people the freedom they so much want. People will have to learn how to take that freedom themselves. Easy it cannot be.

23) After all these years, it still shocks and amazes me that a Communist Party Dictatorship can claim Freedom and Democracy, and that apologists for them such as Sharp can be so taken in, while so brilliant and good-hearted at the same time.

24) I do know the answer. It roots in another term who's definition has been altered beyond recognition. That term is: Rights. We believe in equal rights of freedom, not of equality in outcomes. The Communist deception of equal outcomes for all is truly evil.

25) Look now again at Sharp, just slightly edited:

• Liberation from tyranny is possible;
• Very careful thought and strategic planning will be required to restore it to America; and
• Vigilance, hard work, and disciplined struggle, often at great cost, will be needed.

26) I promise you this. If you haven't read his book yet, and if you keep those 3 points in mind, you will discover that his guidance 100% applies to the MAGA Mission today. And tomorrow for many years and decades to come.

27) Perhaps we may term our enemy within the Tyranny of the Left. And the place we must find and meet our enemy is within our own local communities and counties. Who among us ever dreamed we'd have to pay the price of freedom here at home, in our own counties?

28) As to the flow from study into action, I have a mini-project I plan to commence soon. I can't share its outlines yet, as my study most take its own natural course. I promise, however, that I will commence my action project rapidly. Study first, action second.

29) As indicated above, my next study step will be to return to chapters 6 & 7 and review them for basic ideas as well as differentiation between the two. I will absolutely keep the three major conclusions to his ideas in front of mind as I do so.

30) I imagine you can tell that the methods I share are meant to be far more general than merely in application to Sharp. Any book you dedicate yourself to will benefit from this form of intense study. And as you do, you will grow in might of mind and might of action. I promise.
