First reinfection death in Brazil. The 39 year old male was first infected with #P1 variant. Then 3 months later, infected with other 🇧🇷-origin #P2 variant. Patient died 8 days after reinfection found, in wealthiest/healthiest state of Rio Grande do Sul.🧵

2) The sad thing was, both his brother and father had #COVID19 too. “He also visited his father at the hospital in a room shared with other COVID-19 diagnosed patients”.
3) “The second infection evolved with complications, and the patient was removed to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and intubated due to severe loss of pulmonary capacity. The patient unfortunately died on March 19th, 2021.”
4) Currently at 72 confirmed reinfection cases (3 deaths) worldwide and 34,407 suspected cases (38 deaths), according to @BNODesk’s ongoing reinfection tracker.

BREAKING—U.S. State Department has added at least 116 countries this week to its “Level Four: Do Not Travel” advisory list, putting the UK, Canada, France, Israel, Mexico, Germany and others on the list, citing a “very high level of #COVID19.” 🧵

2) On Monday, the State Department said it would boost the number of countries receiving its highest advisory rating to about 80% of countries worldwide.
Before Tuesday, the State Department listed 34 out of about 200 countries as "Do Not Travel."
3) Other countries in the "Do Not Travel" list include Finland, Egypt, Belgium, Turkey, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain. Some countries like China and Japan remain at Level 3: Reconsider Travel."

I cry for the India 🇮🇳. Brutal epidemic ravaging the country, and hospitals are completely overwhelmed. A staggering 300,000 cases—and possibly 10x underdiagnosis means maybe ~3 million actual cases a day. #COVID19

2) FT thinks underdiagnosis is 10x in India. But some think it’s even higher...
3) By deaths alone, comparing cremations vs reported deaths, some areas have 24x higher underreport.
