How I Made My First 6-figures Online
(and how you can too)

\ Thread
I'm a family man that lives in the Dominican Republic.

I monetized my skills online while writing and speaking in a second language.

And after tons of trial and error, I cracked the code.

Today, I'll show the 8 steps I took to make my first $100K using social media.
Step #1: Choose A Niche

My biggest regret was trying to serve everyone when I started.

Don't be like me. Be better.

Pick a niche (as I did later)

Focus on serving people in that niche.

This is how you become an authority in their eyes.
Step #2: Create An Offer

Your niche that's riddled with problems.

Select ONE of their problems and create a service that solves it.

Later, you can create more services.

The key is to focus on a niche and one of its problems.
What can you offer?

• Your services
• Coaching
• Cohorts
• Courses
• Ebooks
• Audio Books
• Memberships
• Paid newsletter
• Masterminds
• Webinars

At first, focus on offering your services.
Step # 3: Get Customers

Most people quit at this stage. But you're built differently.

Reach out through DM.

If you're new, offer free stuff (to get the testimonial).

Otherwise, introduce yourself and say how you can help

Get them on the phone

Close the deal

How? Read on👇
Start by setting up a free Calendly account.

Calendly is a simple appointment booking app.

Create the booking form.

Post its link.

Tell people what the call will be about.

Once you're on the phone with a prospect, close the deal.

Get paid before hanging up the call.
Step #4: Build A Following

The process is simple.

One. Post about your journey online.

Two. Let people know what's working and not working.

Three. Share your wins and losses.

Four. Show others how to do what you do.

Five. Network (which is the next step!)
Step #5: Network

Reach out to people through Direct Messages.

5-10 a day minimum.

Say hi. Tell them how you put their ideas to practice. Then introduce yourself. And get to know them.

I've made many good friends on Twitter by doing this.
If you want to make a more powerful first impression ...

Record a short video of yourself.

And send it to the person you want to connect with.

Invite them to have a chat with you.

Or to a podcast.

Or to just reply to a question you have.

Just act like a normal human being.
Step #6: Start A Newsletter

You've been posting your journey online for a while.

As a result, you have some engaged followers by now.

So, sign up for Aweber.

Create a landing page.

Promote it.

And get people to join it.

Make sure you send an email at least twice a month.
Step #7: Sell Your Services To Your Audience

You can sell:
• services
• digital products
• physical products

Start with your services.

Pitch them to your audience.

Get them on the phone.

And close the deal.
Step #8: Monetize Your Following

Now that you have more followers, sell information to them.

- Digital products
- Coaching
- Webinars
- Paid newsletter
- Paid community

The sky is the limit.

Get started.
Some closing notes:

• Use DMs to build relationships

• Sell your services first; digital products last.

• Grow an audience by posting about your journey

• Position yourself as an authority

• Monetize the audience.

I'm not telling you to build these 33 habits.

Some of these habits take me 1 minute to perform. Others 30 minutes. Some I only carry out once a week.

The most important ones, every day.

Think of this thread as the system I use to manage my life.

7 Parenting Lessons I Reverse-engineered From How My Parents Raised Me.

#4 still boggles on why it worked so well.

1. Never criticize your children in front of their friends

I remember a friend's mother telling him in front of me: "Why don't act more like José?"

* awkward silence *

She then kept talking badly about her son.

Never do this.
2. Use the right wording – it'll change everything.

Instead of saying:

Don't do that >>> Try doing this instead.

Don't say that >>> Here's a different way of saying it.

You're stupid? >>> What did you expect to happen?

How ONE compliment changed my self-perception forever.

And why you should always praise who deserves it.

Thread
For years, I struggled to speak English in front of others.

This fear was also reflected in my writing.

I was ashamed of my lack of English fluency both in writing and speaking.

That's why I wrote my content in Spanish and used Google Translate to get the English right.
At first, Tweeting my ideas in English made me nervous.

I became too self-aware of my lack of skill.

So writing in English made this feeling double worse.

When my wife and I got married in 2012, I told her, "Brenda, I took you out of your castle to live under a rock. I will find a way to build ourselves a castle that we can fill with children and good memories."

But I failed to keep my promise.

My wife's family is well off economically.

Her dad is the Executive Manager of a very important company owned by the richest man in the Dominican Republic.

Her mom is a Dentist...

...and you know what they say about dentists.
When Brenda and I were dating, she used to pick me up in her big Totoya SVU.

Meanwhile, I used public transportation to visit her.

On occasion, he would walk home and arrive drenched in sweat.

(At least I know she married me for my fantastic Latino looks and not my money)
