While pushing a 1-year old in a baby stroller, an Asian dad was beaten randomly on the streets of San Francisco (Mission Bay).

SF police immediately arrested the 26 year old attacker. Crazier—no words were even exchanged. The attack was completely random.
2) this comes just soon after this other brutal attack in Manhattan in broad daylight against an Asian grandmother.
3) AAPI violence has gotten out of control now.
4) if it’s high in both NYC and SF, you know it’s probably worse elsewhere in places with fewer Asians.
5) Trump’s Chinavirus rhetoric definitely fomented it. But let’s be honest - it’s been in America for a long time.
6) What the hell is happening in SF?!

2) To be clear, in the @NEJM article, the authors failed to define 1st dose and didn’t exclude the first 14 days of post vaccination followup. It was not disclosed until someone @supermarioelia asked in a direct written communication. Thus the paper’s 1st dose number too low. Image
3) For protection against severe disease, efficacy was 100% for 2 doses for the variants, 97% overall for all #COVID19 cases. That’s great.

Insulin was invented ~100 years ago, and its patent sold for $1.

There is no reason for insulin to cost $21 in Canada for a 10 ml bottle, while it costs a mortgage payment in the US.
2) atrocious amount of big pharma price gouging on insulin. Absolutely atrocious. Heartbreaking atrocious. Shamefully atrocious.

2) “Viral genome sequencing conducted from February 23 through March 18 indicated that 50.0% of cases of Covid-19 in Qatar were caused by B.1.351 and 44.5% were caused by B.1.1.7. Nearly all cases in which virus was sequenced after March 7 were caused by either #B1351 or #B117.”
3) To be clear—this was not a trial, but an observational case-control study. “Vaccine effectiveness was estimated with a test-negative case–control study design, a preferred design for assessing vaccine effectiveness against influenza (see the Supplementary Appendix).”
