Vaccine task force logistics lead Johanu Botha is holding the weekly vaccine briefing.

Target for one dose to everyone aged 12 and up to get one dose is now June 9.
This is ahead by nearly a week.

Main reason is a little more Pfizer is coming: 87,800 doses per week by the end of this month, up from 73,700 doses a week right now.
To clarify: Everyone aged 12 and up who wants a dose, meaning the 70 per cent uptake target.
Eligibility will be 18 plus today, as the premier announced Tuesday. Botha says this is due to availability.

No word yet on appointments for teens aged 12-17.
Botha says the second-dose campaign "will be much more scrunched and busy" due to higher dose volumes.

[Manitoba will try to do in six weeks with second doses what took six months for one dose.]
Reminder: Steinbach supersite opens May 18. Gimli, May 29.
Vax team now showing slides showing wait times at supersites are down to nothing, effectively.
Botha asked if large age eligibility drops recently are due to low uptake.

He says many younger Manitobans were already eligible due to high-priority areas and their jobs.
Botha: No more first-dose prioritizations for anyone 18 and up.

[Anyone 18 and up means anyone 18 and up.]
Botha says it won't be much longer before Manitoba can confirm and open up appointments for teens aged 12-17.

Not quite ready yet, he says.
Botha says vaccine team was planning 18 and up today, with or without the premier's announcement yesterday.
Botha asked about lineups at walk-in sites. Says each site is getting through all doses allocated every day.
Province still planning to begin booking second doses by May 22.

Again, this starts with people with serious health issues and the immunocompromised.

After they book, the next priority will be people who got their first doses the earliest. So March first doses, then April ...
The 18 and up eligibility should be online now. No need to wait for 11:45 a.m.
There are 7,530 AZ doses left at doctors and pharmacies, should you wish to avoid supersites and pop-ups for some reason.

They also have 1,461 Moderna doses as part of a pilot project.
There remains 41,270 Moderna doses with the First Nations distribution team. Those have not been counted among recorded doses.
Botha asked about non-Indigenous people getting doses at Indigenous-led walk-up sites.

He says the intent was those sites would immunize Indigenous people.
A more definitive statement on second doses for people who got AZ as a first dose is forthcoming.
That's it for the morning. More at 12:30 when Botha returns, with Dr. Reimer.

I'm here all week. Something something try the veal.

Reimer reiterates all AZ doses in Manitoba *and on the way* will be reserved for second doses for AZ recipients, with exceptions for people who can't get another vaccine.
Reimer apologizes for the way Manitoba requested gender on its immunization consent form.
Reimer on second-dose appointments:

First people who can book will be people with serious medical conditions, including people on dialysis, with Down's syndrome, getting an organ transplant, getting chemo and living with HIV.

Full list to come.
