Manitoba says it's awarded a tender to Xplornet to provide internet to 125,000+ properties without internet access or underserved by existing access. #mbpoli
The province says in a press release this will serve "nearly 30" First Nations and ~270 rural and northern communities.
The deal will utilize infrastructure owned by Manitoba Hydro.
A few weeks after his first election in 2016, Premier Brian Pallister supported a Bell MTS proposal to expand internet.

That didn't quite work out. Context: cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…
The contract between Xplornet and the province is still being finalized.
It appears some communities listed as getting internet already have it ...
The premier says better internet access will improve economic opportunities in rural, northern and Indigenous communities.
Pallister addresses the Costa Rica tax amnesty: He says it was a blanket offer.

He then alleges Wab Kinew has not paid his taxes.
Pallister clarifies: He says he has no evidence Kinew has paid his taxes or not paid his taxes.
Premier asked about Manitoba's #COVID19 infection rate.

He says he expects MB will soon see the benefits from the new restrictions.
Benefits in the form of a flattening curve, that is.
Here's the latest story I can see on Kinew releasing his taxes.

The context for Josh Aldrich's initial question about Pallister and the Costa Rica amnesty ...

Finally, context for my Q to the premier about Manitoba's infection rate.

Manitoba has the second-worst rate among the provinces - but Alberta's is coming down and MB is going up.

That means everywhere but northern Manitoba.

This is due to the fire risk.
To be clear, backcountry travel is banned in the following provincial parks:

- Spruce Woods
- Whiteshell
- Nopiming

Vaccine task force logistics lead Johanu Botha is holding the weekly vaccine briefing.

Target for one dose to everyone aged 12 and up to get one dose is now June 9.
This is ahead by nearly a week.

Main reason is a little more Pfizer is coming: 87,800 doses per week by the end of this month, up from 73,700 doses a week right now.
To clarify: Everyone aged 12 and up who wants a dose, meaning the 70 per cent uptake target.
