[BREAKING] High Court of Kenya rules Basic Structure doctrine applicable in Kenya; Kesavananda Bharati cited by petitioners

On the limit of amending power, the petitioners drew their primary authority from Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala.

The court made a declaration that President does not have authority under the Constitution to initiate changes to the Constitution.

The High Court of Kenya ruled that Basic Structure can be amended only through a four step process
The court also noted that proceedings can be initiated against the President or a person performing the functions, if anything done or not done "contrary to the Constitution."
