6 new deaths, 4 have chronic disease history and all are older than 60.
Chen said the number of cases are still slightly high and he once again explained that the adjustment has been made and he hopes that once the reporting process has become more efficient, the occasions for processing the delayed cases will be less.
Most of the delayed cases are still concentrating in Taipei and New Taipei City, the main epicenters.
Chen is still explaining that May 15 and May 17 was the interval when the number of confirmed cases are the highest.
Chen said the rapid testing's positive rate from #Taipei is 5.9% and from New Taipei is around 4%.
Chen said the rapid test will have a much higher false positive rate when there isn't a huge community spread. He said the rapid test needs to be used carefully.
Chen said based on the trend of confirmed cases seems to have reached the climax and the adjusted results hasn't really seen a real flattening. He hopes to be able complete all the adjustments by the end of this week.
Chen admitted that experts have recommended the government to extend the level three alert level, so the government is considering to extend it for how long.
Officials said the experiences of using rapid test varies a lot across #Taiwan. Places with the highest number of confirmed cases has lower false-positive rate.
Chen said the CECC and experts don't agree with offshore island Kinmen's suggestion to set up rapid testing stations at airports with flights to Kinmen and ask CECC to approve local government's requests to let them require visitors to have a negative test result within 3 days.
Chen said the CECC is open to have discussions with Kinmen government and offer expert suggestions.
Chen said letting businesses to purchase their own rapid testing kits isn't compatible with the existing law but the government will issue a clear guideline soon.
There are 84 patients using ventilators, a slight increase of 16 comparing to yesterday and 19.1% of the senior patients have serious symptoms.
Chen said the goal of #Taiwan-made vaccines is to be rolled out by the end of July and he didn't provide more details about the acquisition of foreign-made vaccines.
Chen said the government will release a more detailed plan about how to ration the existing #COVID19 vaccines, including the 410,000 doses of AZ vaccines.
Chen reiterated once again that it is only possible for the CECC to have a better judgement of the trend of the whole outbreak after all the delayed cases have been properly attributed to each day.
A relatively shorter presser today. See you all tomorrow and if you are in #Taiwan, STAY HOME!
