[Thread]1. LATEST #VaccineRolloutSA stats:
* 282 135 #Pfizer 1st doses by Tue 23:59pm
* What does this tell us about the pace at which we're vaccinating?
- The pace is picking up:
* Mon = 49 276 doses
* Tue = 60 999 (282 135 - 221 136 = 60 999), so on Tue 19% more than on Mon
2. Is the pace at which we're vaccinating fast enough to reach the goals @HealthZA has set? Not yet.
* Health dpt goals = 109 200 vaccinations per day for the week of May 24
* We reached 45% of this goal on Mon and 56% of the goal on Tue
3. What does the provincial distribution of #VaccineRolloutSA look like? @Bhekisisa_MG created this map to make it easy to understand. (The figures are from Mon, because @HealthZA hasn't yet released provincial figures for Tue):

4. Where can you find updates of daily #CovidVaccinationSA figures? On the coronavirus website (today's press release hadn't been uploaded yet when this tweet went out).

5. Where can you find a site if you're 60+/a #HealthWorker? Here's an excel spreadsheet that @HealthZA released last week (it's not up to date, it has 177 sites; there are 300+, but it's what we've got). The list is also on the coronavirus website. bit.ly/3bU6AnG
6. You can find the active #Gauteng sites on @GautengHealth (they're pretty great with tweeting it). This is just the list for #Tshwane, but the other districts are on their handle too.

[Thread] 1. EVDS Q and A with responses from @HealthZA’s Nicholas Crisp.

Can you make special arrangements to get vaccinated if you need to travel internationally? No. @HealthZA is working on a process, but it won’t be implemented soon. Why? "It will open a floodgate."
2. How does whether you have a medical aid or not influence where you'll have your jab? If you have a medical aid, the #EVDS will prioritise you for a private site, if you don't have a medical aid, it will prioritise you for a public site.
3. Why does the #EVDS assign public sites to people without medical aid? 1. The admin is easier (no payment has to be processed). 2. It's cheaper (the gov sites get jabs, syringes, etc in large quantities because they're bigger, so the cost/vaccination works out cheaper).

[Thread] 1. Is #VaccineRolloutSA moving fast enough to consume the jabs that SA will receive over the next 5-6 weeks? To answer that, we need to look at how many jabs we’ll have and how many daily vaccinations we would need to do to use the shots.
2. How many jabs will we (likely) have for the next 5-6 weeks?
* Business SA on Fri said we'll have 3 mil #JandJ doses by the end of June (if the FDA authorises the release of the jabs in time)
* 4.5 mil #Pfizer doses by the end of June (#Mkhize announced this in May)
3. Business SA/health dpt calculated:
* For the wk of May 17 we needed to do 54 200 vaccinations/day
* For the wk of May 24 we need to do 109 200 vaccinations/day
* For the other weeks until the end of June we need to do 192 500 vaccinations/day
(this is based on 6 days/wk)

[Thread] 1. Five @Dischem #VaccineRolloutSA sites will open in Gatueng on Tuesday, May 25 (in addition to the Midrand site that opened on May 17):
1. Centurion
2. Mall of the South
3. Jabulani
4. East Rand Mall
5. Fourways Mall
2. The 5 @Dischem #VaccineRolloutSA sites are not based at Dis-Chem pharmacies, they're in malls (look out for posters and signage). Dis-Chem expects
@HealthZA to deliver vaccine stock on Mon, which is why they're only opening on Tu (no deliveries = made over weekends for now).
3. Can you just turn up at a Dis-chem #VaccineRolloutSA site this week? NO. Dis-Chem says it will only help people who:
* Have registered on the EVDS
* Arrive with an EVDS voucher with a date, place + time
* Bring their ID + medical scheme membership (if applicable)

[Thread] 1. How does the #EVDS decide which site to send you to? It uses the address you entered when you registered. In cities it will assign you a site within 10kms of that address and in rural areas it will allocate a site within 30kms of the address. bit.ly/3ypvQM6
2. Can you currently register on the #EVDS if you’re not a #HealthWorker or someone of 60+? No. The system will automatically calculate your age from your ID nr, and unless you say you’re a health worker, not allow you to register.

3. If you don’t have an ID and enter your age manually on the #EVDS, site officials are supposed to ask you for proof of your age or employment as a #HealthWorker before vaccinating you. (But there have been reports that this doesn't happen at some sites.) bit.ly/3ypvQM6

[Thread] 1. How does the government decide who gets a vaccination appointment first? It’s first in, first out. So the earlier you register on the EVDS within the category you fall, the sooner you’ll get an sms with a date, time and place. bit.ly/33NeL0s
2. NB to note: You can only register when @HealthZA
tells you to. If you’re not a #HealthWorker or person of 60+, it wouldn’t help to register now. If you live in a crowded setting/you’re 40+, you’ll be the next categories asked to register. bit.ly/33NeL0s
3. Where do comorbidities fit in? For now, you can't get earlier access to jabs if you have a comorbidity. Age and your likelihood of getting infected is used to determine who comes 1st. That’s why we’re starting off with #HealthWorkers and people of 60+. bit.ly/33NeL0s

[Thread] 1. When will our next batch of #Pfizer jabs arrive? At midnight (Sunday): 325 260 doses. How many doses will we have then? 975 780 doses (tonight's batch will first have to get checked by the National Control Lab in Bloemfontein for quality).
2. When will the remaining 700 000 #HealthWorkers not covered by #Sisonke all be vaccinated by? By the end of this week, #ZweliMkhize said tonight (only 1st doses can be given this week - Pfizer needs 2 doses. To vaccinate 700 000 means we need those doses at sites this week).
3. Who will get sms's for #vaccination appointments this week? 7 707 #HealthWorkers and 4 288 citizens of 60 years and older.
