Gou promised that his foundation will commission the qualified vendor to apply to the government regarding the import of the German-made vaccines. He said his team is now gathering all necessary information and he promised to share the whole process with the public.
Previous media reports suggested that Gou was interested in trying to import the BNT #COVID19 vaccines from Shanghai Fuson Pharmaceutical, which has the exclusive right to distribute the BNT vaccine in #China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
Gou criticized the media for citing unnamed sources when he expressed his willingness to import #COVID19 vaccines to #Taiwan. He emphasized the move and decision is out of philanthropic intention and has nothing to do with any politician or political party.
He said any political party's move to do similar things will have nothing to do with him and his foundation. Gou called on politicians and political parties in #Taiwan don't try to capitalize on the issue of vaccine.
Gou emphasized that the proposed 5 million doses of @BioNTech_Group vaccines will be made, packaged and flown directly from Germany to #Taiwan. He said there is no room for outsourcing during any of the processes.
Gou reiterated that since #Taiwan's law prohibits importing vaccines made in #China, so his foundation will not consider importing vaccines made in #China and he called on the public not to confuse the German-made vaccines with vaccines from #China.
