Breaking: #Taiwan reported 549 cases in total, with 177 backlogged, 372 local cases. There are 12 deaths today.
Chen said the CECC has been searching out more cases from several hospitals and he said the CECC has processed 2/3 of those backlogged cases.
Chen said the outbreak hasn't really gone down based on the higher number of #COVID19 cases today.
Chen said New Taipei: 310, Taipei has 152, and Keelung: 18 Taoyuan: 12 Changhua: 10.
Chen said there are still higher cases on June 2 and he needs to observe whether it is due to the faster reporting process or there are just simply having more cases.
New Taipei and Taipei have more cases being reported today comparing to yesterday. He called on local governments to keep cooperating to identify more exciting cases at the community level.
Chen is reminding people to not leave the house unless it's necessary and certain places should have control over the number of people that is present at the same location simultanesouly.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs said almost all night markets have stopped operating to try to prevent crowds from gathering. More than 1000 local traditional markets are under the ministry's monitoring.
All markets have reduced the number of exits and everyone is advised to wear masks at all times and there is no dining inside any market. These guidelines have been carried out through the local committees at each market.
Local authorities have been advising citizens to go to markets at different times based on their ID number. The ministry will observe if this method can reduce the number of people gathering.
The Ministry is also trying to launch an e-commerce platform to let citizens have a chance to purchase their groceries online.
Chen said there have been multiple cases of violence at hospitals, where medical staff have been injured or medical facilities have been destroyed. He seriously condemned these violence and said ...
... hospitals will enhance their security level. The Executive Yuan has announced that any frontline personnel that were injured during their operation, they will receive subsidies.
Chen is calling on citizens to remain rational and he said they should avoid using any violence at hospitals He said this is the responsibility of the whole country.
The CECC reported a wanted fugitive who was tested positive. He destroyed the #COVID19 ward and he escaped later. He was arrested at his residence at 1:30 pm.
Chen said there have been some cases of abnormal reactions to AZ vaccination, so the experts have been conducting some relevant discussion.
A case was a man in his 30s who had repeated fever and abdominal pain a week after his AZ #COVID19 vaccination and the doctors couldn't find any blood clotting in his brain or abdomin.
The patient was showing signs of blood clotting and doctors are suspecting that his symptoms may be related to AZ vaccination. He has since recovered after treatment.
He was the first serious blood clotting symptom in #Taiwan and he was diagnosed pretty early. CECC called on anyone who has experienced serious headache or vision blurry or other symptoms should definitely go to the doctor within 28 days of being vaccinated with AZ.
Chen said he can't fully control the timing of vaccine arrival so he called on the local government to comply with the CECC's vaccination rollout plan.
The government hopes to complete 1 million vaccination per week once the number of vaccines is enough.
There will be 800 clinics by June that can offer #COVID19 vaccination and each clinic can vaccinate 50 patients every day. By August, they hope there will be 2000 clinics.
The CECC said any businesses that have more than 1000 employees will have a vaccination stop. They also plan to set up vaccination stations at major community gathering places.
The CECC said soon #Taiwan residents and citizens can use the electronic system developed by @audreyt to register a week before their vaccination. They can use the Health Insurance bureau's mobile App to search the number at each clinics or hospitals that are offering ...
... vaccination. He said these vaccination record will be uploaded to the national health care cloud system and also it will be recorded in the mobile App too.
The CECC is calling on recruiting personnel that can offer professional vaccination works and they will receive relevant training from the government. More than 7000 people have applied.
NCKU hospital in Tainan has been recording tutorials for medical staff that will be helping with vaccination later and they will also develop an online system for scheduling for medical staff at local vaccination stations.
Chen said the CECC will not tolerate violence against medical staff and those who committed violence will be severely punished accordingly.
Chen said all vaccine manufacturers are focusing on developing the next generation of vaccine but he said the CECC has been preparing to start any negotiation whenever opportunities arise.
Chen thanked Berlin for offering support for #Taiwan's attempt to acquire @BioNTech_Group vaccine. He said so far, all original manufacturers are leaning towards dealing with governments or government-related organizations.
A journalist cited @FT's report about #Taiwan being not prepared with enough beds, rapid tests and other resources before a major outbreak happeend.
Chen said #Taiwan will humbly accept any criticism from media and he said after two weeks' hard work, #Taiwan's medical resources are gradually stabilizing and he hopes to continue to expand the capacity.
Chen said the CECC is going to try to prioritize older citizens for vaccination as more researches are showing that they are more vulnerable to #COVID19 infection. He said this is a very important option.
Chen said he does not dare to say the outbreak has stabilized and he said the current mechanisms need to be further monitored. He said the all mechanisms will be reviewed on a rolling basis and he said the government hopes that...
... #Taiwan can vaccinate at least 60% of their population with at least one shot by October. He said in order to efficiently roll out the vaccine, the CECC reveals the plan for vaccination today.
He said when and how to relax the current mechanism needs further observation so the government needs to be more careful from avoiding the outbreak from flaring up again.
Chen said as long as the individual meets the criteria to be vaccinated, they don't have to go back to their household registered home town to be vaccinated.
Chen said they have received the documents from Terry Gou and he said he didn't see any authorization from the original manufacturer. He said the government will facilitate the process.
Chen said the authorization from the original manufacturers means they have sufficient number of vaccines that they can offer and they are intended to support the request to purchase.
Chen said the government won't just recklessly reduce the level of alert and the CECC will have to conduct a very detailed evaluation with experts to determine when is the best time to do so.
"I've already it said it," Chen literally just told a journalist who asked THE SAME QUESTION that others have already asked 10 minutes before. Is it that hard to pay attention?????
More nursing homes in #Taipei have seen cluster infection and one in Xinyi, unfortunately, recorded several deaths.
Alright, that's it for today. The outbreak has slightly increased today and Chen continues to call on people to remain vigilant about the protocols. The government did reveal some overview about how it would look like when #Taiwan has enough vaccines to start mass-vaccinate ...
... citizens but some details are still missing in this plan. See you all tomorrow. STAY HOME!

According to Apple Daily, Japan's Asahi Shimbun is reporting that Tokyo will in fact offer several batches of AZ #COVID19 vaccines to #Taiwan, apart from the 1.24 million that is expected to reach Taiwan tomorrow afternoon. tw.appledaily.com/international/…
The report said the Japanese government wants to take a route that's outside of the regular international framework and take an active role in facilitating the donation of AZ #COVID19 vaccines to #Taiwan within a short time.
The report suggests that the Japanese government originally wants to donate the vaccines to #Taiwan through COVAX, but that will take a much longer time for the vaccines to reach #Taiwan.

Latest for @dwnews: 32 years ago, #HongKong was the safe haven for many #TiananmenSquareMassacre student leaders but this year, it is at the frontline of #China's crackdown or preventing any form of commemoration of the bloody event from happening. dw.com/en/hong-kong-t…
For decades, tens of thousands have gathered annually on June 4 in Hong Kong's Victoria Park, lighting candles and singing songs to remember the victims of the bloody 1989 crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.
But the tradition is now in danger of disappearing in Hong Kong. Last week, Hong Kong police banned the annual vigil from taking place, citing pandemic-related prevention measures. This marks the second year in a row that the event can't take place in the city.
