**Intro To Segmentation 101**

Segmenting your list is key.

It improves engagement, open rates, and sales…

...but you need to know what segments to set up.

(otherwise it's pointless)

Here are 5 segments that are 100% essential 👇

BUT can also apply to other business models (info products, affiliate, etc.)

Let's get into it...
Segment #1 - Buyers

The subscribers most likely to buy your products?

The ones who have already purchased from you.

Very simple.

You can send more emails to this segment than others.

You'll also want to segment buyers based on categories/products purchased.
Segment #2 - Non-Buyers

You want to have a segment of non-buyers as well.

The goal with this segment:

1) Nurture them

2) Get them to buy

Send this segment generous flash sales/promotions to get them to make that first purchase.

Show them social proof + brand info as well.
Segment #3 - Engaged

These are subscribers who are opening your emails consistently.

They are clearly interested in your brand + what you have to say.

So why deny them?

Send engaged subscribers a frequent mix of content/sales emails.

Always add value + stay entertaining.
Segment #4 - Unengaged

These are subscribers who aren't opening your emails.

Send a win-back campaign.

The idea here is to re-engage them.

Give them the option to unsubscribe OR keep getting emails.

If they don't open your win-back emails?

Delete them (for deliverability).
Segment #5 - VIP Customers

These are your TOP customers.

So... treat them like it!

Your VIP buyers are basically royalty.

Send them VIP-only promotions + emails.

Show your genuine appreciation for them - they will return the favor by buying more products from you.

IMO the biggest factor in getting your emails opened is the 'From' line (you).

The next biggest factor?

The subject line.

3 tips:

- test, test, test
- create open loops + target curiosity whenever possible
- shorter subject lines (usually) perform better
2. Headline/Lead

Your email should start with either a headline or lead.

This is very important.

3 tips:

- first sentence/headline should be short + attention grabbing
- if possible, imply a benefit of reading the email
- create an open loop (to be closed in email)
