#UNGA convenes today to discuss the situation in the M.E, BUT another UN meeting won't contribute to de-escalation & is counterproductive.
However it's an opportunity for @UN members to condemn Hamas indiscriminate rocket fire & acknowledge Israel's right to defend its citizens.
The full responsibility for this escalation and for those harmed on both sides falls entirely on Hamas and the other terrorist organizations operating in #Gaza.
Since 10 May 2021, more than 4,000 rockets have been launched from the #Gaza Strip towards Israel, directed at civilian population centers throughout the country including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashkelon and Ashdod, killing 12 and injuring hundreds.
Israel today coordinated a complex operation to transfer humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. The transfer was hindered by repeated Hamas mortar fire launched at the crossing, in which civilians were killed and injured, and an IDF soldier was wounded
The timeline of events:
This morning, the Keren Shalom crossing was set to open to allow for the transfer of humanitarian aid, and the exit of foreign nationals.
There were 40 trucks loaded with food, medical equipment and humanitarian aid on their way to the crossing from Ramallah, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv, donated by OCHA, UNICEF, the Red Cross and Doctors without Borders.
The decision of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court not to dismiss the Palestinian case that calls for a criminal investigation of Israelis is unfounded and outrageous. It has turned the ICC into a political weapon waging political war against the Jewish state.
The Court has jurisdiction only in cases brought before it by sovereign States. The simple truth is that there is no Palestinian state and there never has been such a state.
Accordingly, the Court has no jurisdiction in this case and claiming otherwise is a distorted act of legal acrobatics.
It is indisputable that Israel, the State of the Jewish people, has indelible historical and legal rights in our homeland.
Dear foreign journalist, editor, commentator, diplomat, blogger,
If you are planning on covering and/or addressing events at the Gaza-Israel fence on Friday April 6, we urge you to take the time to read the following.
These few points are pivotal elements of the story. It's not possible to understand the events without this context.
#Hamas is a terror org whose objective is the eradication of the state of Israel. This context is crucial to understanding the nature & purpose of current events.
It is #Hamas, not Israel, that is initiating the current clashes; it is Hamas, not Israel, which is seeking to enter the other's territory; it is Hamas, not Israel, who holds the key to the end of the confrontation and violence.
