๐ฃ It's been a few weeks since I ran the county-level plots so I figure it's time to update them.
NOTE: I've expanded the Y-axis from 70% out to 90% of the entire population, which is the highest you could conceivably get to if limited to ages 12+.
CALIFORNIA. R^2: 0.7581.
ALABAMA.
Vaccination rates only range from 14 - 41%.
KANSAS.
Anyone know if there's anything special about Graham County (pop. 2,500)?
NEW MEXICO.
WOW! Go McKinley County, Go! They've *fully* vaccinated over *85%* of their ENTIRE population (not just adults)!
PENNSYLVANIA.
Philadelphia really has to up their game.
WEST VIRGINIA.
A few months ago they led the country. Now...not so much.
ILLINOIS.
Jo Daviess county is an outlier for some reason...population 21,000...any thoughts?
MICHIGAN.
I've overlaid a breakout of the City of Detroit from the rest of Wayne County. A bit depressing I'm afraid.
TENNESSEE.
WYOMING.
R^2: 0.8315.
ALASKA.
Alaska is kind of all over the place, but AK residents have told me that's to be expected--very unusual geography, demographic mix, and even their population center methodology is odd--they don't have "counties," they have "boroughs" and then a bunch of "census areas."
IDAHO.
MAINE.
R^2: 0.8141
NEVADA.
OKLAHOMA.
WISCONSIN.
ARIZONA. Go Santa Cruz!
IOWA (in addition to expanding the Y-axis out to 90%, I've also started adding the "herd immunity" range starting at 80% to give a better sense of how far/close the target is for each county):
MINNESOTA.
KENTUCKY.
MISSOURI.
NEW YORK.
ARKANSAS.
COLORADO. R^2: 0.7073
San Juan & Mineral County doing well!
CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, DC, HAWAII & RHODE ISLAND
(none of them have more than 8 counties so it seemed a bit silly to give each one its own graph)
Note: Kelawao County, Hawaii only has 86 residents. Still, good for them!
FLORIDA. Adding the herd immunity zone puts even Sumter County in perspective (that's where "The Villages," the massive MAGA retirement community, is located)
GEORGIA.
INDIANA.
LOUISIANA. West Feliciana way out ahead, interestingly.
MARYLAND.
MASSACHUSETTS. Even in the bluest states the pattern is still there, if only faintly...
MISSISSIPPI.
Not good. Not good at all.
MONTANA.
R^2: 0.7074

ONCE AGAIN: I raised $6 million DIRECTLY for Dem candidates last cycle. I didnโt take a dime of it. And I donโt expect them to kiss my ass or even give me the time of day. All I expect them to do is vote for good policy and save democracy. Thatโs it.
Thanks to the #AmRescuePlan, #ACA enrollees earning less than 150% are eligible for $0-premium "CSR 94 Silver" plans in most states...which have extremely low deductibles/co-pays to the point that they're effectively the same as Platinum plans! 1/
ALSO thanks to the #AmRescuePlan, if you're receiving unemployment benefits OR IF YOU DID EARLIER THIS YEAR, you're ALSO now likely eligible for a $0-Premium #SecretPlatinum plan as well!
Some states went live with this already; HealthCare.Gov goes live July 1st!
Excellent birthday weekend. My wife, son and I just hung out at home and watched The Hunt for Red October, Pleasantville, Groundhog Day, Gattaca and Crimson Tide (we started and finished with the 2nd & 3rd best submarine moviesโฆI know Das Boot is #1).
One thing that shocked me to find out: Yes, smoking was permitted on Navy submarines until 2010, well after both movies were made.
Some of you may remember last winter I was freaking out trying to get people to post public comments opposing some last-minute time bombs that Trump's CMS Admin tried to plant on her way out the door.
The comment project was great but she shoved them through anyway....
...FORTUNATELY, the Biden Admin grabbed them and stopped them in their tracks anyway, and is now officially flushing them down the drain.
Last week SCOTUS saved the ACA; today CMS reversed some peripheral damage before it started. Mazel Tov to @SecBecerra & @BrooksLaSureCMS!
Of TOTAL population:
--MA should break 65% by Wednesday
--RI breaks 60%
--NJ on verge of 55%
--N. Mariana Islands break 50%
--PR should break 50% tomorrow
--UT & MT on verge of 45%
--GA should break 40% soon
--AL should break 35% soon
--Nationally, we'll hit 50% tomorrow
For those wondering, here's every state by education level (% over 25 yrs old w/bachelor's or higher):
Yes, there HAVE been times when it's used in a cynical/doublespeak way, usually by Republicans , who usually use it in the sense that "Anyone can go to the Emergency Room!" 2/
The response to THAT usage is usually to make a sarcastic metaphor like "Everyone has *access* to a Porsche in the sense that they're allowed to buy one, but that doesn't mean they can afford to!" 3/
