Sadly I hadn’t seen “Vertigo” before my Twin Peaks analysis below. It clearly has a major impact on twin peaks with the concept of doubling and twins. @HordeOrc even pointed out to me that S3 and vertigo have many similar shots.
A rarely analyzed aspect of twin peaks is how Donna doubles. James is very freaked out by it & during the original series there’s no clear answer 4it. Until the film when it’s revealed Donna went with Laura for one night to the roadhouse and had a psych break in prequel to series
In a way Donna is trying to become Laura in the same way Judy tries to become Madeline to please Scottie at the end of “Vertigo” and perhaps slips into becoming the cursed Carlotta Valdez. All thanks to MK trauma.
Donna is the nerdgrrl of the original series, only one of the original tp gals with a good home life. So her falling into MK was about wanting to play w fire by going along with Laura. Taking Laura’s boyfriend. Then following her foot steps on both the gud grl & bad grl stuff
This reflects sheltered 90s era suburban girls trying to reflect the behavior of teen idols. Donna & James both do this & is why their shared plots mirror films & other tv almost 1 for 1. James gets trapped in “double indemnity”, “rebel wo a cause” and various mystery whodunnits.
This scene is something straight out of an Elvis film, including instruments other than the guitar playing on the soundtrack inexplicably. Good 90s suburb kids reflecting tv/film versions of good girl/boy bad girl/boy.
Song style also predates and influences Seattle grunge.
A major theme of twin peaks season 3 is how the original series influenced our world and cross pollinated with the fantasy world of the original twin peaks run. TP helped Seattle rock & fashion take off in the 90s.

This makes me lose respect for Gary as it sounds like Simpson’s comic book guy whining over the color of spirdermans costume in some film or something. Very weak.
Vin Diesel, the rock, and Jason statham are keeping f&f franchise rolling despite meh writing and a brand that changed its meaning wildly in the last decade. Movie stars still matter but corporations don’t want them to.
Hollywood tries to prop up unlikeable trash actors then wonder why Tom Cruise can make mission impossible sequel #55 a hit every damned year.
Similar to neverland second star to the right and then straight on till morning.
#dnd often quantifies the concept of “belief” power similar to how KoED can be read, or Poul Anderson’s “the broken sword”. In the latter the Aesir and fey are dying off due to baptisms and allegiance to the White Christ.
@JohnsonJeffro vs @KasimirUrbanski Pit Fight
The tongueless bard with a palor of death walks the pit beneath the Silken Pony Inn. The sands rblack w blood. A night of bouts has the crowd raccous 4 more. The bard speaks with a haunting voice from the outer realms 1/ #dnd#brosr
Every Blood Moon these scum and vagabonds of the city of Cyfaraun gather for such bloodletting. Tonight’s main event was especially anticipated. Odds were 3 to 1 in favor of RPGPundit and the bookies struggle to keep up with bets. 3/ #brosr#auranempire#acks#dnd
Back to the future is about how the media can manufacture history through sheer force of will. Sort of like how they can meme the world into thinking there was a m4ssacre that didn’t actually happen.
Almost every time Marty travels it’s whilst driving towards media shop. Photo Hut, movie theater, abandoned drive-in screen.
You didn’t notice the movie theater he drives towards at the end of part1 is an 4dult theater in 1985. But your brain did.
