2/9 The 🇩🇪state is faced with a dilemma regarding the teaching permission for Islamic instruction & theology, because-unlike the Christian churches-there is no recognized religious community that is entitled to grant this permission.
3/9 Searching for a solution, the state has launched various constructs. For example the association officials-and not religious and theological authorities- are granted to decide on the teachers and textbooks to be selected.
4/9 The state of Baden-Württemberg, for example, has created such a skewed construct with the Sunni Council, founded in 2020. And the council based on its power denied permission to several Islamic theologians with the excuse that they lacked theological or pedagogical competence
5/9 The case had caused critics nationwide. The state government reassured the numerous critics by passing the controversial decisions to external experts. However, if one looks at this arbitration commission of "experts", the situation only gets more strange.
6/9 B.Uçar, head of an Islamic College for religious teachers & imams, holds a PhD in Islamic Studies, not in theology or religious education. T.Badawia, PhD without religious focus on education. Based on the criteria of the Sunni Council both teaching licenses should be revoked
7/9 Since May in North Rhine-Westphalia the Turkish President Erdogan has been allowed to govern in German classrooms via the mosque association Ditib, with the blessing of the gov of Armin Laschet. However, Erdogan's sympathy for the Muslim Brotherhood must be known to Laschet.
8/9 In Hamburg, the local Islamic Center has a say in Islamic education, whose head, according to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, is the direct representative of the Iranian revolutionary leader Khamenei in Germany.
9/9 Under these conditions, why the teaching permit is not placed directly in the hands of the universities?
