Unfortunately @PowerUSAID @SamanthaJPower appears to have learned absolutely nothing from her visit. This interview with NPR is self-regarding and childish.

The delegation of responsibility for diplomacy over the #HornOfAfrica made to the @USAID agency needs to be revoked. The @StateDept will struggle to disentangle @PowerUSAID's ego from this conflict if she remains in any manner associated with it.

The U.S Govt. needs to now make a bold step if there is to be any hope of restoring any order to the #HornOfAfrica. At this stage it is unclear that they wish to do so, and inside Ethiopia their credibility has been deeply undermined by @PowerUSAID's visit.

The press briefing conducted yesterday by @PMEthiopia chief press officer @BilleneSeyoum, the day after @PowerUSAID's departure should be watched by all media, and anyone who is interested in developments in the region.

Without explicitly calling for it, the statement read by @AbiyAhmedAli's spokeswoman makes it clear that the Govt. of Ethiopia considers that the TPLF should be immediately declared by the U.S. as a terrorist organisation.

Given the TPLF's rejection of the unilateral ceasefire, which was offered by the GoE as a path to dialogue, their ongoing incursions into Ethiopia, and the intense information attacks on Ethiopia being mounted by them and proxies, this seems like the appropriate response.

Statements by @PowerUSAID during her visit, and associated appalling media coverage - most notably that of @PBS @Newshour - to the region have clearly left the impression with the TPLF continues to have the full backing of the U.S. Govt for terrorist activities inside Ethiopia.

While official statements from @StateDeptSpox @SecBlinken and even @PowerUSAID - in her press conference in Addis 2 days ago - suggest this is not the case. The actions of the U.S. Govt and this latest appalling interview from Power suggest otherwise.

The insurgency is characterised by attacks on civilians of exactly the kind that @SamanthaJPower is so fond of talking about international media, which she continues in her public remarks to attribute to the GoE and loyal militia forces.

As the U.S. Govt. and Media continue to "see no evil" in relation to the TPLF, as they rampage through Ethiopia after refusing a ceasefire, during the period of the Solemn Olympic Truce, understandably the people of Ethiopia and Govt. of Ethiopia is losing patience with the IC.

Time is running out to prevent a much greater catastrophe in the #HornOfAfrica.

Western Govts and agencies need to get off the fence and decide whether they support terrorists or the legitimate govt. of Ethiopia.
