“Their stories reflect the seismic changes sweeping Asia, where voices for democracy have been suppressed by corruption, growing inequality and the widening influence of the so-called China model and its blend of repression and prosperity.” latimes.com/world-nation/s…
I remind my son how lucky he is to be American with the freedom to protest and vote.
“They’ve coalesced online through the Milk Tea Alliance, a grass-roots social media campaign that brings together a shared love for the pan-Asian beverage and an enmity for autocratic regimes.”

#MilkTeaAlliance
This scares authoritarians more than they want to admit and it’s obvious in how hard they are cracking down on this generation of kids who are no longer content with keeping their head down and being quiet.
“Journalists have been silenced, critics jailed and peaceful demonstrations — including the annual June 4 vigil — effectively banned. More than 10,000 people have been arrested in connection with the unrest.”

Hong Kong 2021.
“They held flash mobs blocking traffic. They marched with signs in English designed to go viral, including one that read: ‘I want a relationship not a dictatorship.’”

“To understand why, it is best to try to think from the perspectives of China’s leaders. Their intended messages are aimed at different audiences: domestic Internet firms and the domestic public at large, as well as those outside of the country.” chinafile.com/reporting-opin…
Hey, that’s a nice U.S. IPO you got there, it’s a shame if something were to happen to it.

I visited Detroit for the first time last year to explore a partnership around a new impact + inclusion focused real estate initiative.

Would like to get plans back on track once Biden is in office. 🇺🇸

Can’t believe it was about a year ago. We had so many awesome plans for Detroit that included transforming an industrial building into hemp fiber processing center. Trump’s failure on COVID derailed 2020 plans.

#WonderfulMichigan #Detroit
We also got a tour from my friend at Rock Ventures of some cool spaces and hubs for Detroit startups and creatives.

I now want a conference room in an old bank vault. Just need door kept open. #WonderfulMichigan

Asian Americans being unapologetically Asian American in America is my favorite mode in the face of all the xenophobia and anti-Asian sentiment of 2020.

We mobilize. We vote. We say fuck you in ways our parents could not when faced with hate. #AAPI
18 to 29-year-old #AAPI voters cast 84,000 early votes in 2016.

So far this year, young Asian American voters have cast 330,000 early ballots. An almost 400% increase! 🙌🏼

Let’s keep it up. Text a friend!

“...polls show that Indian Americans are turning decisively to the left, alienated by the @GOP’s divisive rhetoric toward immigrants and minority groups.

72% of registered Indian American voters plan to support Biden, compared with 22% for Trump.” #AAPI

You know why our frontline healthcare workers can’t get the supplies they need? Because we are limiting options in the global supply chain to US standards and creating bottlenecks during an emergency.

We need to recognize country equivalent standards so we can import supplies.
Ask your hospital, city, state to tell whoever is bottlenecking global options for needed medical supplies to accept country equivalent standards.

N95 masks are equivalent to FFP2 and KN95 masks. If other countries are doing this why can’t we?
I am up 20 hours a day for months getting requests for supplies and while other countries are buying everything up, Americans are getting in their own way on narrow requirements.

You know how hard it is to find a factory that is FDA, NIOSH approved with English packaging?
