Asian Americans being unapologetically Asian American in America is my favorite mode in the face of all the xenophobia and anti-Asian sentiment of 2020.
We mobilize. We vote. We say fuck you in ways our parents could not when faced with hate. #AAPI
18 to 29-year-old #AAPI voters cast 84,000 early votes in 2016.
So far this year, young Asian American voters have cast 330,000 early ballots. An almost 400% increase! 🙌🏼
“...polls show that Indian Americans are turning decisively to the left, alienated by the @GOP’s divisive rhetoric toward immigrants and minority groups.
“Now up to almost a quarter million registered voters — more than enough to tip a tight race — Asian Americans here lean heavily Democratic and are highly motivated by economic issues, like income inequality.” #AAPIvote
Love seeing the Vietnamese American community showing up for #BidenHarris2020 via the efforts of #Viets4Biden. Their organizers in Seattle have people dancing to that ballot box. 👏🏼
“...there are nearly 172K eligible Asian American voters in North Carolina, representing about 3.5% of the electorate. The state’s total #AAPI population came in at just over 363K — exploding by 154% since 2000.”
This is so wholesome. ❤️
So inspired by #AAPI voting in Texas. Thanks @frogchristen. Your grandma is adorable!
“It’s time to go home to a place we once knew, a country of kindness and compassion, empathy and community, tolerance and generosity, integrity and hope.”
Mom of a 15 year old. He can’t vote until the next election but he’s seen me vote since he was 3 and Obama was his first president. He debates about policies while gaming with his friends. lol
So inspired by the young voters turning out to #VoteEarly 💙
“Biden picks up endorsements from over 1,100 AAPI leaders.
621,765 Asian Americans who did not vote in 2016 have cast their ballot this cycle, a 34% increase.”
Shout out to fellow #AAPI meeting people where they are in their communities to get out the vote. This is me in everyone’s WeChat feed today. I know the ones who have American passports see me. lol 🗣🗳
“...there’s a rapidly growing group of voters who threaten to turn the red state into a purple swing state, with a more equal distribution of Republican and Democrat voters - Asian Americans.”
On a personal note. This has been my handbag for the last month. My 15 year old son asked me to stop carrying it around because he’s worried I would get harassed or attacked by Trump supporters. Especially since I’m Asian he said.
My KID is worried about ME. WTF.
My former military academy son started high school this year isolated in his room. Worried about his grandparents and now worried about his outspoken Asian mom walking around with Biden campaign merch?
“66% of Asian Americans, 18 to 34 years old, would vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, compared to 20% of those more than 50 years old, according to the most recent Asian American Voter Survey.
“5 million people in Harris County — home to Houston, the most diverse city in the country, and a swelling population that has become more and more Democratic since 2016.”
This is what it means when you hear that #AAPI are the “margin of victory” that can swing the key swing states blue. Please check in on friends and family and ask them to vote. 🇺🇸
“In the last days of the race, the Asian GOP aims to push ‘the silent majority’ of Asian American conservatives toward Biden. Li said the group's WeChat community has roughly 50,000 to 70,000 people.”
"He said something like, 'You're the one who brought the virus here. I hope you die,' " she recalled. "It's horrifying. You're doing what you can to help people and everyone else wants you to die."
My parents immigrated in 1978 and were non-voters until Obama ‘08. They’ve voted in every election since because I told them it was important to set a good example for my son. 💁🏻♀️👦🏻
“Everyone should be active in our political system, but this election, more than any I can recall, is not just about the economy – it’s about humanity, and how we behave toward one another.”
“What motivates many of them are concerns over income inequality, keeping the Affordable Care Act, climate change and humane immigration laws, as well as solidarity with Black Lives Matter over racial justice issues.”
"We need a president with empathy, integrity, and broadness capable of bringing all sides to the table to find common ground, and work together overcoming serious challenges ahead."
Can’t believe it was about a year ago. We had so many awesome plans for Detroit that included transforming an industrial building into hemp fiber processing center. Trump’s failure on COVID derailed 2020 plans.
You know why our frontline healthcare workers can’t get the supplies they need? Because we are limiting options in the global supply chain to US standards and creating bottlenecks during an emergency.
We need to recognize country equivalent standards so we can import supplies.
Ask your hospital, city, state to tell whoever is bottlenecking global options for needed medical supplies to accept country equivalent standards.
N95 masks are equivalent to FFP2 and KN95 masks. If other countries are doing this why can’t we?
I am up 20 hours a day for months getting requests for supplies and while other countries are buying everything up, Americans are getting in their own way on narrow requirements.
You know how hard it is to find a factory that is FDA, NIOSH approved with English packaging?
