Everyone seems to be talking about a fall election. Of course, the CPC and NDP have been talking about it for quite awhile. First they seemed to really want one. Now it seems they think it is... checks notes... too dangerous. 1/6
Too dangerous for whom, I wonder? Is having people stand in a socially distanced line waiting to vote more dangerous than, say, sending millions of unvaccinated children into schools in September, as conservative premiers plan to do? 2/6
Is it more dangerous than stopping #TestTraceIsolateAB as AB and SK have done, under the leadership of their conservative premiers? 3/6
Is it more dangerous than removing mask mandates? Is it more dangerous than opening bars, nightclubs, casinos, strip clubs, gyms, arenas, and holding a stampede? 4/6
In what way could having people stand in a quiet, orderly line, waiting their turn to vote (alone) be more dangerous in terms of COVID? 5/6
I don't think COVID is the danger the CPC and NDP are concerned about with respect to a fall election. Whatever could it be...? 6/6

If the CMOH and the UCP are basing their policy decisions on the "science", i.e. the data and modeling, shouldn't they have that data and modeling sitting right in front of them? Ok, maybe it needs tidying up for presentation... 2/11
But surely a week is long enough to put some slides together? You have a bunch of highly paid communications people. Surely they could do something useful, like make the data ready to be presented? 3/11
What an incredible waste of time this article is! A citizen who disagrees w/ the current government has donated money to the opposition party! OMIGAWD! I think, if CTV and the UCP thought this through, they would realize it is a simple logic to donate to the party you prefer. 1/6
I used to donate to the NDP every time the UCP pissed me off too. That got expensive. Now I just do a monthly donation and a bit extra when the UCP get a bit extra. 2/6
I don't think I am alone in this. But CTV seems to think it's a Big Deal. Hmmm... Where is that coming from?
Are Kenney and the UCP thinking about making donating to any other party an "un-Albertan activity"? 3/6
In case you haven't been paying attention through the pandemic, if you live in Alberta, you are completely on your own to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from COVID. Yes, we have the opportunity to get vaccinated. No, there has been no real leadership on this. 1/11
There has been an offering of frivolous prizes you could win if you got vaccinated. No, the government is not going to give us any sort of proof that we have been vaccinated, other than sheets of paper which may or may not be recognized in other jurisdictions. 2/11
Kenney is so wound up with trying to please his backwards-thinking, anti-science, anti-vax base, and his corporate donors, that he has no time for, or interest in, public health. Now it seems than AHS has been fudging the numbers. There is no significant contact tracing. 3/11
We are having a moment in history. A Pandemic. Economies are crashing. People are rethinking what their life means to them. What work means to them.
Our planet is burning and we have yet to come to terms with the sacrifices required to abate it. 1/14
Violence erupts in streets all over the world. The colour of your skin can mean the difference between life and death. Totalitarian governments are rising. People who, given their history, should eschew tyranny, are dealers in tyranny. 2/14
The ghosts of past injustices arrive and a lot of people are having trouble dealing.
A growing "land mass" of plastic waste is floating in the ocean. A testament to human arrogance. 3/14
Our neighbours keep bees. Yet, they do not have a single flower in their yard. They chemically kill the dandelions and clover. They mow their lawn every day. I have no idea WTF they think they are doing. 1/
They mow their lawn, daily, in this dry heat and you can see their topsoil rising in a plume behind the mower. 2/
Lucky for them, we have multitudes of dandelions in the spring, and an abundance of clover through the summer. Also flowers and flowering shrubs and fruit trees. 3/
A financial incentive may be the key to this bizarre request from the UCP. That would be common garden-variety corruption. But, it could be more... 1/10
You know the conservatives are wooing the gun crowd, right? So what is the next logical step after a woman in a hijab gets badly beaten or killed by someone she sprayed with pepper spray? 2/10
Someone in the UCP is going to announce that obviously, pepper spray isn't sufficient. Maybe the public needs access to tasers, or guns, to protect themselves. This is upping the commercial value of the product being promoted significantly... 3/10
