I'm going to try to do one more thread today on masking vs vaccination as primary tool against delta and then I am planning to let it go (for the weekend at least.) I know almost no one agrees with me and almost no one wants to hear it.

Despite the fact that our government and media are pretending the pandemic is over currently there are more Americans hospitalized for Covid then EVER. EVEN IF this policy focus on vaccination resulted in people rushing to get vaccines it would take at least 5 weeks for effect.

In contrast to vaccines, lockdowns and mask mandates have immediate effect. We SHOULD have a #NationalLockdown but at the very least schools should be closed and we should have a #NationalMaskMandate. The government should provide free grade 95 masks and fine noncompliance.

Focusing on #MaskMandates should have been a no brainer the moment it came out 3 weeks ago that vaccines are not that great at preventing transmission and Long Covid (and I called for that change at the time).

It is hard to undo several layers of false information CDC (+MSM, politicians) sent out into the public:
-there is disinfo lingering from when we were dealing with the original variant that it is "safe outside" without a mask because "only" 15 % of people get infected outside

(BTW it should be clear to everyone by now that CDC is a political organization and that their messaging was always, at least since Biden took over, subservient to his political and economic agenda, not what is needed to get us all safely through this pandemic)

(I think it is clear by now that our rulers have decided to bully us into accepting that some of us (2%) will die and some of us (30%) will become debilitated. CDC messaging is focused on getting us back to work, not on our safety.)

(Masks on faces SCREAM "pandemic is not over" so this is why, from the beginning, they tried to suppress effective masks as much as possible. Instead of respirators we were told to wear colorful cloth and drop even that outdoors when "only" 15% of cases were linked to outdoors.)

Getting back to the CDC misinformation.
-the original recommendation to stop using masks outside was even wrong for the original virus, 'cause 15% of infections is not 0, but even worse it conditioned people to feel safe outside despite the fact that delta has 1000 x viral loads

-the biggest mistake was of course to tell the vaccinated they could stop wearing masks. There were no data on transmission available yet, so absolutely every one should have continued to wear a mask to protect others.

Also, with new variants constantly arising we didn't know how well the vaccines stand up to those new variants. Furthermore, we are still learning about #LongCovid. It was prudent and civic minded to NEVER give up on wearing a tight-fitting grade 95/100 mask/ respirator w/shield.

As it turns out individuals setting a higher standard for themselves than CDC were right:
-Pfizer's efficacy against delta infection is down to 42%
-those infected have similar viral loads whether vaccinated or not
-#LongCovid affects 30% of unvaccinated AND vaccinated

IF CDC worked for us, this information, which came out 3 weeks or earlier should have resulted in a dramatic shift in public health policy and messaging! The focus should have immediately changed to lockdowns and masking. It should have been LOUD & CLEAR to undo previous damage.

First of all, the moment it was made clear that vaccinations by themselves are not enough to make us safe from Covid, school openings should have been put on hold! Instead what is our government doing? Demanding teachers vaccinate & talking even about vaccine mandates!

Again, if there was any doubt before, it should be clear now that CDC is a POLITICAL entity and that public safety is NOT their objective. Knowing well how delta was a game changer (even without those scientific details that we have now) THE POLICY STAYED THE SAME (VACCINES ONLY)

and the MESSAGING became PURE POISON:
"pandemic of the unvaccinated"
-separating people into only those two categories: vaccinated and unvaccinated
-shifting the blame from the government to the individual
-shifting public anger away from the government to those unvaccinated

This has been in place for several months already, even before the ICUs started filling up. I was immediately very suspicious of that messaging but honestly did not expect how even educated people, even DOCTORS will lap it all up, EVEN AFTER new revelations about the vaccines.

This is what describes me best:
I am an ardent pro-lockdown, pro-masks, pro-air quality advocate
I am not an anti-vaxer (I will explain my position towards the vaccines in more detail later).
I am writing this thread because I am EXTREMELY concerned about our safety vs Covid

I am probably not convincing anyone, people who "like" what I am saying were ALREADY thinking this themselves. But as a public service, I HAVE TO TRY.

Please look at how the information about those in the ICU is presented: it's ALWAYS vaccinated vs unvaccinated. And it's a shocking difference so right then and there people stop thinking.
At the same time we see ICUs overwhelmed, doctors quitting, stroke patients dying.

People naturally get angry at the unvaccinated, that's how the clever propaganda works.
But what if I told you that there is an even bigger difference between those who WERE wearing grade95 masks&shields and those who weren't?

What if I told you that 99,9% of patients in the ICUs were acting as if there was no pandemic and were not taking precautions? That they went into the public without grade 95/100 masks & shields(which by themselves lowered the chance of infection with the original variant by 50%)

Of course I am guessing that number because NO ONE is collecting ICU patient data on that. But how often do you see a properly masked and shielded person in the public? One a day tops, right? Even medical personnel often uses surgical masks only.

Yet the public anger is directed ONLY against the unvaccinated. Why?
Because the government wants to pretend the emergency is over and wants us to accept death and debilitation from Covid as normal part of life.
Vaccines are invisible, mask/shields are VERY visible.

They are not choosing the most effective public policy to stop spreading the virus, but to one that LOOKS LIKE everything is back to normal.

Did you get that?
ONLY proper masking & shielding prevents you from getting and spreading Covid and Long Covid.
The vaccine doesn't.
So EVEN IF you are vaccinated you should do those things.

Anti-maskers demanding vaccine mandates, demanding that unvaccinated (but properly masked & self-isolating) patients are denied care, that they pay higher insurance premiums is THE HIGHT OF HYPOCRISY.

If there even ARE any of those properly masked & self-isolating people in any ICUs, probably only because of counterfeit masks and human error while handling a mask.

Do I need to mention that while asking people to stay home and mask/shield when in public (unless walking in an uninhabited area alone or with people you share apartment with) is normal and MORAL, forcing a needle into the arms who do not want the vaccine is absolutely immoral.

A lot of those having no problem with the latter are either in denial about Covid, or know VERY WELL that it will still cause death and disability among the weakest of us and SIMPLY DON'T CARE.

Let me warn you.
Think about this pandemic as a dress rehearsal before the climate catastrophe.
The attitudes that we are developing us with either help us or haunt us when we face even bigger challenges.

The good traits to develop as a society facing climate catastrophe are:
-sacrifice of some comfort and freedom for the common good
-protecting the weakest in our society
-respect and compassion for others

-resistance to government propaganda, coming together as a society DESPITE government inaction and poisonous propaganda

I'm coming closer to the end but I still want to cover the topic of compliance with mask mandates and what I think about the vaccines.

IF I was in charge I would have obviously done the messaging on the masks differently. I would have provided the proper masks to the population free of charge, using president's war powers, starting with medical professionals. I would have done it in February 2020 the latest.

I would have made sure to address all conspiracy theories on FOX&social media that "masks don't work" by inviting scientists AND engineers from all parts of political spectrum OVER &OVER to show in various experiments that MASKS WORK.

I have far less patience with anti-maskers than anti-vaxers because duh! masks obviously CAN'T HURT YOU. But still, there is so much anti-mask propaganda, as @POTUS or head of CDC I would definitely TRY to reach doubters by providing good VISUAL info time and time again.

Also, AFTER sending PPE out and doing everything possible to provide the population with effective visual demonstrations by scientists and engineers that masks & shields work, and how to wear them, I would force the compliance by steep fines, double for gov workers (eg. police).

I would have also invested government money (definitely at THIS point, when it's clear we will need to mask for another year at the least) in creating solutions that provide 100%filtration, perfect fit AND leave the face visible. Have a bunch of OSHA-approved designs to choose.

Just one last thing to give you foretaste of what I will discuss further, I JUST saw this tweet(and there are any others). Instead of closing schools and ordering a #NationalMaskMandate parents are being pressured into pressuring FDA to "hurry up."

So, if anything goes wrong with the rollout of the vaccine for the youngest, they can blame it on "pressure from the parents." Also, what is coming next, is social services taking children away from parents who opted out of the vaccination (despite #RemoteLearning not offered)
