@UKLabour MPs really need to get to grips with a thorough understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and single-sex exemptions @Keir_Starmer. We suggest a starting point would be @EHRC guidance issued July 2018 #SexNotGender #SexMatters
@UKLabour MPs' understanding of EA2010 would benefit from this excellent overview "The single sex and separate sex exceptions in the Equality Act 2010" It explains current misunderstandings re single-sex exemptions wrongly promoted by @stonewalluk as law. sex-matters.org/wp-content/upl…
@UKLabour needs to urgently remind all Labour MPs that a High Court judge ruled that gender-critical beliefs fall under 2010 Equality Act protected characteristics & are a genuine & important philosophical position that deserve to be protected. linkedin.com/pulse/forstate… #SexMatters
@UKLabour must ensure guidance given to members & CLPs is consistent with EA2010 law. Labour pledged to "Ensure single-sex-based exemptions contained in Equality Act 2010 are understood & fully enforced in service provision." Labour MPs would do well to respect this commitment.
@UKLabour should note voters know that #SexMatters. Ignoring sex doesn’t make sex-based discrimination & harassment go away, it just prevents you from dealing with it. @Keir_Starmer should reclaim Labour’s history of standing up for women’s rights. unherd.com/thepost/labour…

@SadiqKhan says "One of the things about the Labour Party is it’s a chance to debate, discuss, have disagreement in a respectful way". That's not reality for those arguing for women's rights in @UKLabour today.
standard.co.uk/news/uk/rosie-…
Respectful discussion must be based on credible, robust evidence. When @SadiqKhan irresponsibly uses discredited statistics on suicide as though they're established fact he's part of the problem - creating a climate where discussion is impossible.

@Womans_Place_UK are still waiting for a response from to their letter (signed by 4k people) asking for an explanation of the removal of @polblonde from her role. How about it, @SadiqKhan @SophieKLinden? Respectful discussion requires engagement.

Time to end the silence on women's rights. A thread. #DontBeADavey

This morning @AndrewMarr9 asked @EdwardJDavey repeatedly "What is wrong with the phrase woman - adult human female?". Davey couldn't even bring himself to say the word 'woman' in response.
Asked about a real woman in his party - @Nat_freespeech who's been banned from standing for any LibDem position - Davey made no response. Still he could only repeat the thought-terminating cliches and mantras taught to him by Stonewall.
crowdjustice.com/case/natalie-b…
This is what erasure looks like. Asked a question about women, or a question about a particular woman, too many politicians dissemble and take refuge in cliches about trans rights. The language we use to name ourselves is being lost, and with it, the ability to discuss our lives.

Andrew Marr: "What's wrong with this phrase? Woman - adult human female?" Ed Davey: "LibDems believe that trans rights are really important because trans people are some of the most discriminated against in our society."
The question was about WOMEN.
Marr re-states his question "what's wrong with woman- adult human female?"
Davey: "I've made it clear what our position is on trans rights, no-one can criticise me for that".
Bampots who can't even say the word 'woman' should not be in politics.
Davey goes on to talk about the 'toxic' debate. It's not a culture war that has toxified this debate - it's the misrepresentation of anyone wanting to talk about women's rights, and shouting us down as bigots and transphobes.

On the day it's officially announced that there's an “epidemic” re violence against women & girls (There are 1.6 million victims of domestic abuse & crimes like stalking, voyeurism & online abuse where eight out of 10 victims are women or girls), @UKLabour deputy leader.. 1/
.@AngelaRayner (in the absence of a yet to be appointed Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities) opts to ignore this damning report but instead focuses on spurious, un-evidenced reporting of a journalist who has been found wanting re his reporting 2/
@AngelaRayner launches into evidence free hyperbole about the abuse & discrimination of the trans community. No such public support against the much evidenced abuse & discrimination LP women members endure, including Chair of Women’s PLP, Rosie Duffield.3/ labourwomensdeclaration.org.uk/news/the-silen…
