Would be nice to see some news reports leading with the allegations that have been made against the UN officials who have been expelled. @AP@Reuters@AFP
@mfaethiopia issued a statement yesterday. There are 2 sides to this story. There seems to be a racist trope at play here.
@AP@Reuters@AFP@mfaethiopia It is clear that the legal basis the UN is relying on is unreliable. According to their own legal opinions and based on recent precedents in the case of both Burundi and in 1998 for the TPLF, who expelled 30 UN officials.
@AP@Reuters@AFP@mfaethiopia One would have thought that the substance of the Ethiopian claims against the UN officials ought to be examined at some point in this discussion. The missing trucks one is undeniable. The "rape as a weapon" data manipulation one is supported by a leaked audio recording.
@AP@Reuters@AFP@mfaethiopia There is another scoop worth your attention. The turning of a UNESCO World Heritage site into a fortress. Lalibela's ancient churches hewn from rocks held hostage. Where males had to flee to avoid being killed & where TPLF deployed pregnant child soldiers. jeffpearce.medium.com/ethiopia-the-d…
@AP@Reuters@AFP@mfaethiopia The leaked recording is key. The 1st @JeffPropulsion scoop above shows clear evidence of serious rifts inside the UN's Ethiopia teams. UN whistle blowers say this audio recording, was released by one of the expelled officials, @UNDP's Kwesi Sans-Culotte
Listen to the audio, it is pretty outrageous. how do you as Dr Kwesi (who has deleted his twitter account) says get from "not verified" to "credible" reports of "rape being used as a weapon". The evidence relied on for UNSG statements on Tigray was "anecdotal".
As for the leak, it appears that Dr Kwesi Sans-Culotte's target for his leak of edited audio - was his fellow members of the @UNEthipoia team, no wonder they are now in revolt. foreignpolicy.com/2021/08/27/uni…
The story here @AP@Reuters@AFP is a great deal more interesting than one about an "uppity" African Nation daring to stand up to the UN and the USG which has authorised a regime of unilateral sanctions to protect its former GWOT proxy in the Horn of Africa.
Ethiopia is standing with the truth, in dignity, after an unrelenting campaign of lies perpetrated by the TPLF from day one in this conflict on the dark and bloody night of Nov 3. TPLF crimes continue to be enabled by the USG and UN.
Ethiopia is not going to back down. In the face of a chorus of "there is no military solutions" Ethiopia has proceeded to end this - not because they are war happy - but because they are fighting an existential war against a brutal and dangerous rebellion with UN/US/EU support.
Surely a new offensive against the Legitimate govt of Ethiopia by the TPLF on the day of inauguration is sufficient to end US Government and UN support for them.
On Friday September 17th the US President announced a new set of unilateral sanctions specially designed for peace making. Demanding that “all parties” to the conflict in Tigray enter negotiations without preconditions.
The report doesn't say this. But it is widely believed Abdiwahab was abducted by Kenyan police/security forces at the request of Somalia PM @MohamedHRoble. Roble who recently met with the UK PM @BorisJohnson and FM @DominicRaab recently had his powers suspended by @M_Farmaajo.
@MohamedHRoble@BorisJohnson@DominicRaab@M_Farmaajo The abduction came during the middle of a power struggle between President Farmaajo and Roble, precipitated in part by an unsanctioned visit by Roble to Kenya to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss an imminent decision from the ICJ on a maritime boundary dispute.
@JemalCountess@AnnGarrison Baltimore's @JemalCountess is on a field reporting trip to Ethiopia's Amhara Region which was invaded by TPLF forces in mid July, and parts of which remain occupied by their forces today.
In this IV he talks about the war, the occupation of UNESCO World Heritage site Lalibela...
@JemalCountess@AnnGarrison .. the 1 million+ traumatised IDPs in South Gondar Amhara Region and their horror over U.S. support for the TPLF.
IDP witnesses stories about what is happening in Lalibela are chilling. Lalibela has been fortified like Monte Casino was in WWII.
Cyclone Shaheen-Gulab (meaning: Falcon-Rose) is making landfall in Oman right now. In this animation we can see how its outflows are bringing rain to the Horn of Africa.
Two animations follow showing the development of Shaheen-Gulab over the past 48 hours, into what looks like a well organised powerful storm. This animation begins on Friday night and runs for 24 hours.
And this one starts yesterday afternoon and runs till about half an hour ago. #ArabianStorms [@Arab_Storms]
The 2nd day of protests in Addis accompanying an Oromo cultural festival. Included raising flag of a banned terror group in Meskel Square. It appears there is an active campaign underway to disrupt govt swearing in on Monday.
“Neftegna” is a name associated with killing Amhara.
Awol Allo is a journalist who sometimes receives air time on international media channels who supports Oromo separatism.
A week ago this video was released oh what appears to be a graduation parade for OLA fighters. The OLA announced a military alliance with TPLF in August. google.fr/amp/s/www.voan…
