Vaccines work in the same way like any other vaccines, which is to break the chain of infection. Here both the reservoir & host are impacted by vaccination.. leading to a reduced population carrying the virus.

This reduces risk of infection across the board as overall persons able to carry the virus, or hosts able to infect others reduce correspondingly.
A bit like concept of "herd immunity" .. except that Covid-19 Vaccines don't offer same expected results..

Covid-19 vaccines, quite obviously now reduce severity of disease, reduce admission to ICU.. but let it be stated that it does not prevent disease, by the obvious cases amongst the fully vaccinated. That's another story for another thread..

What is sure is that the unvaccinated will have higher risk of carrying the virus compared to the fully vaccinated. Hence, the risk of transmission is higher.

This is seen in crude rate numbers for Penang, fr 18 Sep till 17 Oct 2021.. where even though cases were reducing,
Unvaccinated stayed higher ranging fr highest 98.06 till 27.12 cases per 100,000 persons.
Fully Vaccinated ranged fr 63.25 till 20.08 cases per 100,000 persons.

But as mentioned fr the beginning, vaccines reduce cases across the board !! It is no coincidence that though crude rate for Unvaccinated is higher than Fully Vaccinated, overall the downtrend 📉 is intact for all categories even as vaccination 💉 percentage increases. 📈
