we start with the cost [of transitioning to renewables and actually saving the planet for future generations]. Taylor happily takes this invitation to repeat a bunch of bullshit slogans. The Liberal Party obsession with lying about taxes gets an extended run #Insiders

you are using taxpayer dollars tho, says Speers. What is the total cost tho? I’ve answered your question, says Taylor. The answer, for the record, was the usual gumph about throwing our cash at unexisting technologies instead of investing in existing tech. #Insiders

lol the friendly Speersy routine evaporated quickly. On track reach targets clean hydrogen initiatives technology investment roadmap, says Taylor. No mention of ROI on their fantasy tech, oddly. #Insiders

what we are seeing is very rapid growth of voluntary purchase of carbon credits, says Taylor. Incredible that the mechanism for which a proto-type was legislated by the minority Gillard government is global and works. #Insiders

governments don’t commit beyond the next decade, says Taylor, about his governments “2050 plan”. Speers points out the timeline contortions involved in this claim. #Insiders

now. CCS. If it works it is very expensive, says Speers. Who would pay for that? Santos is progressing very quickly on that at Moonbah, says Taylor. Speers asks if Taylor “would give them some taxpayer incentive”. Not asked: what is the current ROI on Santos donations. #Insiders

more argy bargy on the pretend future efficacy CCS. Taylor recites another slew of slogans. It is remarkable to think this man was awarded an academic scholarship to a prestigious university. He appears incapable of speaking in full sentences that carry meaning. #Insiders

so really it is a 2030 plan? Taylor pauses, spotting the trap. Well David it is a 2050 plan with a “pipeline of 2030 policies” that clean energy carbon capture storage low emissions technologies R&D, babbles Taylor. #Insiders

your position is at odds with business, internationally, with Matthias Cormann, says Speers. There will have to be some sort of price mechanism? Taylor repeats his [fossil fuel] costs up [renewables] costs down bullshit. This is a thing WHICH IS HAPPENING NOW. #Insiders

yes, Taylor has spoken to ex Liberal Party Finance Minister who voted to repeal the price on carbon there in Rome. A few mandate lies and it’s a wrap. #Insiders

let’s start on the policy of the plan, says Speers about a thing which has not changed in 10 years - the Coalition commitment to fossil fuel expansion and emissions increasing. It is junk policy, says Hartcher.

it is embarrassing, says Hartcher, citing Cannon-Brookes. It is only about announcements. About generating talking points for Liberal Party candidates in city seats. It is rebadged non-policy for the election campaign [paraphrased]. #Insiders

as Peter said, it’s a vacuous piece of nonsense says Tingle, of the Morrison government announcement with pamphlet. She says the Coalition have a “framework of things they fought and don’t believe in”. It is about not changing and not legislating, she says. #Insiders

reminder that Speers has been touting all week that Morrison has “achieved” not getting sacked by his colleagues, which is the reason Morrison will not even try to legislate any climate mitigation measures. #Insiders

what amount are we going to be on the hook for? says Tingle. That’s the amount [of public cash] the Liberals have promised the Nationals [candidates to buy votes]. Tingle repeats the actual global goal: stopping catastrophic warming that will end life as we know it. #Insiders

[Morrison government emissions minister] Taylor is talking complete garbage, says Hartcher. They are promising everything and delivering nothing. They are “lucky” business and the states are acting [on climate change mitigation] he says of Morrison co-opting the credit #Insiders

what went on in the National Party? asks Speers. It is a redundant target, says Tingle. Various scenarios were played out. They were prepared to blow up the Coalition over this, she says. Joyce does not support [the huge handouts in regional seats he brokered]. #Insiders

in the regions in Queensland, is hypocrisy going to count more than the actual [announced] number? says Tingle. She says Qld LNP (Nats) might think they can campaign locally against the Morrison government announcement. #Insiders

there is no question the Nats are a huge drag [on the Coalition] says Stewart. So, on themselves then. Speers quickly shifts to Labor. We know Labor do not want to lose another election on this, says Speers, as tho media promotion of Morrison stunts has no influence. #Insiders

Labor has to decide if there is something other than climate to talk about, says Tingle. They were good at transition in the 80s, they had packages for steel workers, a lot of this depends on what happens in Glasgow, she subtly corrects Speers. #Insiders

we jump quickly away from these facts and go to self-appointed China expert instead. We know Xi Jinping will not be there says Hartcher. He says these international summits are big on promise and low on delivery. #Insiders
