In a rapidly urbanising world, cities hold the key for achieving ambitious climate action and development goals, from #decarbonisation and nature’s recovery to resilient, prosperous and inclusive societies that leave no one behind. (2/6)
Cities need long-term, patient capital that lets them plan and then make the necessary investments in key systems such as water and sanitation, public transport, #housing, and #energy. (3/6)
Beyond hard #infrastructure, cities need funding to make investments in people, to ensure that vulnerable communities and workers are not left behind. (4/6)
Drawing private finance into #decarbonisation and low-carbon development projects is all the more urgent as growing climate adaptation needs are bound to consume a larger share of public spending on climate action. (5/6)
G20 finance ministers should commit to enabling cities to recover from #COVID19, decarbonise and build resilience by allocating funding and financing to cities. (6/6)
