Bought a ticket last night, but in a fascinating coincidence, the UCP claim they closed their registration for observers at almost the exact minute that the crowdfunding was successful.
That’s cool though. We’ve already heard from a few of the protestors who will be attending the AGM outside, and if the UCP won’t take $999 to let us inside, we’re totes happy to do the outside and chat with folks.

As stated in the fundraiser by the organizers (who are super amazing awesome people and an absolute inspiration) the funds will instead be donated to charity.

We’re gonna split it between the Red Cross to support the relief efforts in BC, and since it’s Family Domestic Violence Prevention month, the Calgary Womens Emergency Shelter as well as a gift to a harm reduction outreach group to support their work.
We’ll post receipts :)

We want to say a huge thanks to everyone who chipped in and especially the organizers!
We know some folks will be disappointed (we for sure are), but we’re still gonna meet up with the protestors and the funds will be going to some very deserving causes.

One final thought…
If the work that we’re doing & you’re supporting didn’t matter, they wouldn’t have shut us out like this.
This was an amazing grassroots display, it really shows how amazing Albertans are, it also shows the UCP are rattled.
We’re gonna keep rattling.

Kenney - Albertans we’re further victimized by economy, Covid and more.
No one could have seen any of those things coming he says.
We recently saw the bizarre introduction of Rodeo (which is actually a wide variety of sports) being declared the official sport of Alberta.
So why all of the attention?
There’s a lot of possible reasons...

It’s no secret that there’s a lot of money involved. It’s also no secret that the Stampede is where a lot of politicians shake hands and make big bank.
To say nothing of the incredible money that gets made.
