Smith is declaring that Alberta will be prohibiting the federal government providing funding to municipalities via ne legislation.

Smith says it's because Alberta pays more in taxes than we get back from the feds and federal programs are super bad, "like Pharmacare and dental care" (actual quote)
Smith says Trudeau doesn't know what his job is...

Smith says he should get rid of the carbon tax, fund reserve services better, provide per capita funding, he should develop economic corridors, support hydrogen, address the bail system and more.

She's got a lot of grievances.

This is the Brazeau Dam.

It's a Dam that is owned/operated by Transalta & it's one of the (ever so rare) hydroelectric power producers in Alberta.

It was built to hold water & generate power, but one thing it wasn't built to do was withstand earthquakes.

Because Alberta.

Because of the not-earthquake proof nature of the dam, there's a 5 km exclusion zone around the dam through something called order No. 6.

Because the AER has established that fracking to get at oil or gas can cause earthquakes.

Which would be bad for the dam.

No for most people, it probably seems like this is the UCP trying to co-opt the "No farmers, no food" movement out of India where government policy changes targeted small family farms and gave tremendous power to large corporations.

Now that in & of itself would be pretty gross.

Because the situation in Alberta, and the consequences of the policy changes in Alberta simply aren't comparable.

So for the UCP government to try & appropriate that would be pretty ignorant.

But they seem happy to invoke it.

There were two (2) major changes made to who can accept gifts & what the value of those gifts are.

The first was a legislative change affecting elected officials. It’s an amendment to the Conflict of Interest Act.

To be clear, this is the change that affects elected MLA’s and ministers.

It raises the value of gift that can be accepted from $200 to $500.

It also changes the rules for how an elected officials family member can attend and enjoy gifts of events as well.

Anything under $250 and there’s no paper trail.

Between $250 & 1000 gotta keep a record.

Above $1000 & you have to keep a record and tell the ethics commish.
