Q1 asks if we should rethink rush to wind &,solar energy in view of UK's "minimal" CV contribution to global CO2. Should we consider "truly reliable" energy from nuclear.

@DuncanKer the only one to say clearly that we in the west have historic responsibility for co2 emissions &,moral obligation to work to prevent 2.7 degrees. We need to stop building new roads - no #north west road. Housing needs higher energy saving standards.

Next q re co2 from homes, 20% of UK emissions. How would you tackle ineffective insulation & high carbon heating?
@helenhalcrow says govt should not have scrapped zero carbon homes. Insulation is crucial.

@btwodo for #Labour says we need stronger planning laws so local people have a say when homes are built, this will lead to more energy-efficient homes.

.@DuncanKer speaking from local govt experience, insulation programmes need to be well- managed by local & central govt not individual incentives. Must be a priority before changing heating systems.

Next q. Why have Labour, lib dem & conservatives not mentioned #climatecrisis in election leaflets? Do they think #NorthShropshire voters don't care?

Next q about state of rivers &beaches. Would you support renationalisation of water companies? Definite yes from @DuncanKer to applause. There is money to save rivers from sewage & pollution run-off but instead it goes to shareholders.

Q: flight duty being cut, huge road building programme, while public transport is more expensive & worse. What are your transport policies?

.@DuncanKer says cutting tax on domestic flights is incomprehensible. Need huge investment in buses, #green #oswestry town council is providing buses because @ShropCouncil are AWOL. Scrap #north west road - it will emit thousands of tonnes of co2 if built.

Next q about circular economy. @DuncanKer proposed a waste minimisation strategy @ShropCouncil; not supported by other parties. Reducing waste must be priority & forcing companies to make products that can be repaired.

Next q about decline in swifts & other bird species & catastrophic threat to biodiversity. @btwodo talks about green spaces & hedgehogs. Govt cut in aid funding has meant cuts to wildlife projects abroad.
