1/ In their report released on Dec 9, @hrw detailed atrocities perpetrated by #TPLF in #Chennai and #Kobo, between Aug 31 and Sept 9.
The findings of the report are chilling and makes you shudder thinking of what must have happened in areas held by #TPLF for several months.
2/ Yet the report raises more questions than it answers.
What about the 90 days since Sept 9? Why conduct the reports remotely, despite at least some areas being free for 3 months? Why release the report now as #TPLF occupation is ending & more atrocities are coming to light?
Two possible reasons: Competition and Complicity.
3/ Compettion: @hrw and @amnesty were left in the cold and felt exposed by the Daniel-Bachelete report that unequivocally showed that most of the HR agendas they pushed over the past 12 months were unsubstantiated.
Recently, @EthioHRC and @UNHumanRights announced that they are planning to do a joint investigation of HR violations in #Amhara and #Afar. This must have sent chills down their spines.
Both organizations scrambled to get a report out before the JIT comes out with a report that will deal fatal blow to the 'Only Tigryan Victims' mythology. @amnesty released theirs last month while @HRW released theirs on Dec 9.
By coming out with their reports earlier and grabbing the headlines @amnesty and @hrw are trying to justify their worth to their backers who invest billions on them.
4/ Complicity: What is comical about the @hrw report is their audacious recommendations section. According to @hrw, the solution to #TPLFcrimes is an arms Embargo against GOE. This is tantamount to saying the ideal solution to deter serial rapists is to restrain their victims! 🤷♂️
5/ In conclusion, the main aims of the @hrw report seem to be minimization of the atrocities committed by #TPLF and use these findings to call for an action against the elected Government of Ethiopia.
@KenRoth, the ED of @hrw since 1993, is one of the longest serving dicatators in the world. Most of the dictators @hrw railed against over the years have either died or resigned. There are only 4 African leaders that were in power before @kenroth!
@hrw is also one of the least diverse organizations you can find around. It is enough to look at this👇 composite picture of its senior management!
@hrw Protecting Rights, Saving Lives [of some humans]
Given what has been happening to pro-Ethiopian and pro-Eritrean voices on @Twitter, I have decided to write my #TwitterWill while I am still around.
1/ Compared with how things were on twitter a year back, we are at a much better place. We are scrutinizing every sentence of every article and tweet and every from of every video. The whole twitter is full of Ethiopian and Eritrean eyes and people are feeling the heat!
2/ The #NoMore movement that started out as a hash tag has evolved into a movement, nay an African REVOLUTION! It has become too real for the powers to be! The oppressed are waking up and the oppressors are panicking and scheming.
1/ This letter is not addressed to Ethiopians. Eleni is clearly more distressed about the prospect of losing her job than the prospect of being tried for treason.
That's the reason for her emphasizing that she attended the meeting in her 'personal capacity.' IMO this is equivalent to Bill Clinton claiming his affair with Monica Lewinsky was in his personal capacity!
2/ “Its also an honor to ... encourage him [Berhane] in what he is doing.” What exactly are you encouraging him about here? His role as 'TDF's representative in the N. hemisphere' or his leadership of the gang of 9 that vowed to 'dismantle' the current elected government?
2/ True to form, it is looking very likely that as predicted the TPLF-TMH-Nima hub has been working on producing a sequel. The stage is already set and the wheels are in motion. Nima/Berhe or someone from @CNN or another outlet will be directing the show.
3/ In the next few days Nima/Berhe and co. will be introducing their play in print and on TV. Unfortunately, I am afraid that some of my predictions might be coming true.
1. The lady is an opportunist! She never took responsibility for Libya and chose to avoid the spotlight when things went south in Afghanistan. For @PowerUSAID, the much vaunted phrase #DoNoHarm applies only for one person. Herself!
2. Power looking for ways to embarrass GOE, early on in the conflict makes you wonder what kind of diplomacy she is practicing, especially when it comes to #Africa and also showcases her bias against #Ethiopia from the get go.
1/Admiral Stavridisj, the man who led the NATO Alliance from 2009 to 2013 as Supreme Allied Commander with responsibility for Afghanistan, Libya, the Balkans, Syria is calling for apparent US intervention in #Ethiopia.
2/ It appears the Admiral took the wrong lessons from this list of abject failures of US interventionalism. The Syrian crisis led to the resurgence of ISIS, Libya became a slave market and Afghanistan is in the hands of the Taliban. Impressive!
3/ The article started well before devolving into the usual mindless comparision with Yugoslavia. For the last time please stop comparing Ethiopia, a nation that was around for millennia with a country cobbled together from 3 preexisting nations in 1918 & lasted a mere 74 years!
1/This was a fascinating watch, as the interview went on @BeckyCNN got more and more incesnsed (a lot of eye rolling, face making and shouting) while @BilleneSeyoum kept hammering her points home with typical #Ethiopian dignity and a hint of bemusement. Ice cold!
